Default Popping on Decelleration

I've got a 2006 C90 and I had the dealer put on Hard Krome Strippers at the 600 mile check. The dealer has a device to remap the fuel injection for the change in pipes but I'm getting an awful lot of popping on decelleration. Does anyone else have any experience with these pipes? Is this condition just something that I live with? The dealer says there is no reason to purchase a power commander or similar device because it won't do any more for the bike than what they've done by remapping the FI.

Popping with deceleration is normal. You will have it with any engine when you releive back pressure in the exhaust.

Sounds like a job for a PAIR valve removal kit!

Twenty-five bucks or less, and all your troubles will go away!! Clink the link below for info on your problem.

My bike popped a lot when I put on my VH Cruzers,, but like intimid8er said, disabling the PAIR valve did the trick to eliminate it. If you don't mind the looks of the valve, you can save a few bucks over the removal kit by just plugging the vacuum lines. I solved my probelm for about $2. It still has a nice "gurgle" on decel, but no pops or backfires.

Hey, I have noticed the same problem (see my post under Sportbikes & Sport-tourers section). However it has only just started to happen as opposed to when they were initially installed. I'll have to try out this remedy.

Here is a web page that might help. It's meant for Kawis, but it might just help in your situation.

Default Popping on Decelleration

Thanks intimid8er. I'll give that a try. I like the way the bike runs and the way it sounds with the new pipes but I can't wait to get rid of hopefully the majority of the popping. For starters I'll just disable the pair valve.

Honestly, I don't think the popping sounds bad. It's just a part of the sound of a motorcycle. I am so used to hearing it on bikes that I honestly thikn it would sound odd without it.

No problem dude. Let us know how it turns out! Shame on your dealer though.

I agree with Shea. To me it's okay, especially with my 2:1 pipe. However, the PAIR pulses in some pipes can be really annoying. Especially with a straight pipe.

Wink Popping on Decelleration

Thanks again, Intimid8er. I plugged the lines to the pair valve and there is at least a 95% difference in the popping. I'm going to order the kit and go all the way and remove the valve. The dealer probably knew about it but I don't really expect them to recommend fooling with the emissions. I actually went on a ride today and I was able to pass on the same information to another new owner of a C90 with the same problem. So actually we both thank you.
