Default Falling asleep at the wheel

A few months ago before I started riding, I was talking to someone who "used to" ride years ago. He stopped riding after having kids (everyone has thier reasons). Anyways, one thing he mentioned that stuck out in my head was "don't fall asleep at the wheel". He said, like anything, if your tired, you can fall asleep while riding a motorcycle.

Has this ever happened? Someone falling asleep at the wheel while riding a motorcycle? Driver or Passenger?

My wife has fallen asleep at the wheel driving her car on a major road years ago, and woke up with her hood in the windsheild... while still moving. Apparently she hit the rear end of a cadillac in her little mitsubishi eclipes (worst POS she ever had) in motion both traveling in the same direction about about 45 - 50 MPH. Now my wife is a little narcaleptic (however its spelled). If were at home, 10:30 comes around, she's asleep... doesnt matter what she's doing.
She hasnt riden on the back yet, but should I be concerned about her falling asleep riding on the back?... say late at night... the purr of the engine, warm seat, quiet... I can see it happening.
