Default hot as hell

it is HOT here .... I've been ridding though... to/from work ... Baltimore to Arlington, VA ... it worries my mom, even though i'm 30 and out of the house. for some reason, Kennelworth ave seems hotter then anywhere else, it does not matter what time I go through there..... i was baking even at 60+ MPH.... I'm going to die if I get caught in traffic there (or at least feel like I'm dying). ... this crap is supposed to lighten up after thurs and go back into the lower 90's ... with a heat index of only in the upper 90's / low 100's .... not like the 110 - 115 it is now.

My hat is off to those High Pressure systems that've been creating the heat waves. They've been sucking all the heat out of our area! We've had a pretty temperate summer if I do say so myself!! Thanks!

Typical summer temps around here (from June to October) are about low to mid-nineties with a heat index of up to about 115 and 80 percent humidity. We usually joke in June when someone asks if it's going to rain on any given afternoon. The response is, "Yeah.....From now until October!"

Jeez 110-115 is that the heat index or the actual temp? Never got that hot there when I was growing up. And they say there's no global warming...

I might come off as a jerk for always feeling the need to put in my 2 cents about riding in the the heat, but it's been 100+ here since friggin April!!! It's true that humid heat is harder to deal with than arid heat, but if you've ever been in direct sunlight in this region when it's already 110+, the difference in discomfort is marginal.

In maryland, virginia and washington dc its heat with humidity. It could be 90 degrees in washington but feel like 115 just based on the humidity. Another thing with Humidity you sweat like crazy 10 seconds in a car with no ac feels like you are in a oven, yesterday and today they are calling for CODE PURPLE for heat advisory. Code Red was the highest we recieved last year this year were past it by 1.

Yeah, the heat as been exceptional lately to say the least.

I leave my house at around 6am, and it's over 70, humidity is around 80%.

I'll leave the office at around 3pm today...it will probably be about 102 and the humidity will be higher too.

The heat index says it will feel like 108...whatever I'm still wearing my leather jacket.

I recently found a slightly longer route & there's only about 2 or 3 times where I might have to stop for a light or stop sign.

I just ride and somehow I manage to forget about the heat.

I lived in phoenix and my home is here in nebraska. I'll tell ya there is a huge difference in just plain hot and hot with humidity. The heat itself is nothing. I've spent many a days in arizona with 120+ days and i'll be out rollerblading and biking. I do the same here, but the humidity just makes it feel nasty and sticky. I like the heat, but would love to move back to arizona to a simple dry heat.

Not nearly as bad as you've heard. It barely snowed last winter. It was actually pretty good riding weather (with a jacket and gloves) up until the middle of December. It only gets unbearable if you're in the city, walking around near the lake after sunset.

That's pretty harsh.

No. They whimper into obscurity while they keep losing.

Oh you meant a real bear...No they open hot dog and burger joints.

Oh, you meant the animal. How the hell should I know. There arent any bears in Chicago?!?
