Default Chain lube opinions

Whee- my first original topic!

I ride year-round in Colorado, mostly commuting unfortunately. There's a lot of road crap out there, and I try to keep the bike running clean. The problem is, after about a month (or a day of heavy rain) it's time to clean & lube the chain. So it gets scrubbed, wiped and lubed, but no matter what I do my back wheel looks like double-chocolate-chip ice cream for the next two days before I clean it off!

I've tried using a lot of lube, just a little right on the O-rings, wiping the chain off immediately after lubing, wiping the chain with WD-40 on a rag, etc. I am using Silkolene synthetic; the can says it absolutely WILL NOT FLY OFF. I have heard that there is "no such thing" as a lube that will not fly off, but there just has to be something better than Silkolene. I've been considering Bel-Ray Superclean, but I'd like some more opinions.

What are the best lubes you all have used, and are there any specific "no fly" tips that you have discovered?

Thanks
