Bike: TBD...Zuki GS500F or Katana 600 possibly???

Alright guys Im a complete rookie rider here. I went to the dealership today and looked at some bikes. The 500 I know is a better bike to start on but the Katana is so much more comfortable. Any advice?? Am I going to kill myself if I get a 600?
