Default Bad Business In Amarillo, TX

First let me say I would sure like to see all forums create a section where people could give their opinion and experience in dealing with a business......be it good or bad. Okay now onto my bad experience. Sorry so long but trying to get the word out about this business with my story.

11:42 AM 7/29/2006

Sharps Motorsports of Amarillo, TX treat their customers with disrespect and accuse their customers of trying to rip them off!

I had bought a Metzler Sportec M-1 front and rear tire in mid to late 2004 from Sharps Motorsports for my 2002 GSXR1000. I had them immediately put on the front tire. I waited until early 2005 to have them put the rear on since the rear I had on still had some life to it. About one week ago I noticed that the new rear tire had a rip in the tread that went all the way through to the casing. The rear tire has around 400 miles on it so I contacted Sharps Motorsports to see if that could be warranted. The first call I was told they would contact the Metzler rep and they would call me back (which I knew they would not call me because they never have in the past.....yes I know fool me once it's on you fool me twice it's on me) so....after a couple of days of not hearing from them I call and they say that everything is taken care of and that I just have to bring the receipt to prove I bought it from them. I thought that was ridiculous at the time....since after all I have bought several things there and had my bike in there 3 or 4 times to get tires and routine maintenance.......so much for customer loyalty. They also have a rule that they will not ever put a tire on unless they are the ones that sold it.

I went to look for my receipt and could not find it. I called them back telling them I could not find it and so Shawn (sp) (the guy I always dealt with on this matter) after claiming that they have no record of ever selling me the tire.........starts looking through the service records where upon he finds they did indeed install my rear tire in early 2005!!! Shawn then tells me that everything is "golden" (because remember their own tire installation rule) and that he will be in touch with the reps and that I need to call him after 2 pm the next day (Thursday July 27, 2006) if he hasn't called me by then. Needless to say he never called. I just called Shawn today [7/29/2006] to find out where we were at and was immediately treated like I had beat his wife......as he proceeds to tell me that he is "still waiting to get the receipt to prove I bought the tire from them" after I had been told that "everything is golden" on his end! I told him to forget it at this point that I was tired of the "runaround" which he admitted they do to people during one of the conversations I had with him.....I then proceeded to tell him that this was ridiculous and that I've had it with Sharps Motorsports.

I talked to Shawn about 5 or 6 times in all.........sometimes he was nice and other times he treated me with total disrespect. Needless to say I will not be fooled a third time...........and I seriously urge anyone that might be doing business with them to proceed with caution......as they do NOT care one bit about their customers.

I actually noticed the rip in the rear tire >> right after I got it home from having Sharps Motorsports put on another brand new front << (because the other front that I had them put on had just gotten a hole in it) so they know darn good and well who I am and that I buy my tires from them!!! Also I just remembered that in early 2005 when they put the rear tire on they did so [without] a receipt to prove that I had bought the tire from them.....they are very inconsistent.

Also one of the times that I had taken my bike to get it serviced I receive the bike back with a very low battery. The service guy said that [i] must have some kind of [short] that was running the battery down and that they had to charge my battery. Up until that day I had never had one battery problem....and still to this day have never had one battery problem and it's still the same battery and all I did was ride it to charge it!! Just be careful if you have to deal with them. Something is not adding up here......now I'm not going to accuse them of putting the little chunk in my tire (accidentally of course) that started the crack....because that would be impossible to prove....but I find it odd that this happened right after they had possession of my bike...............beware.
