| Reading through the "dangerous" thread and saw DrBob's comment about most not having a modulator. I do have one and think it helps others see you considerably ( not a substitute for defensive driving though). I don't see many bikes with them. Any good reason to NOT have one ?

| I've been thinking about getting one; I have the tail modulator. If I get one, I'll probably use it only when close to intersections and such; it must be very annoying for oncoming vehicles when you have it on all the time.....

| I got one for the Intruder 1400 my girlfriend rides. They come with a light sensor to turn the modulation off when the sun goes down, but I put a toggle switch on it instead so she can use it when she wants, but turn it off in the interstate when there are no oncoming cars and it would bug people in their mirror. I keep meaning to get one for the 800, but never have gotten around to it. Shame on me. OBTW, manufacturers claim your headlight actually last longer with the reduced voltage.

| I have one on my M50, mainly use it only on the superslab. It definitely makes people notice you and actually helps cars to AVOID you. They see a bike coming up behind them w/ a flashing headlight, they usually move over. Plus, cars in adjacent lanes will notice a flashing light in their rear view or side mirror.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | I don't have one because I'm pretty sure that they are illegal in Europe. I have a tailBlazer iinstalled, which does get some attention (or at least questions from other riders if it's supposed to be doing that), but I'll replace the tail lights with standard bulbs before going in for my next vehicle inspection. I think that most people prefer tail light modulators for the simple reason that I can see what's in front of me. If I need to get someone's attention, I've got the passing trigger (manual high-beam flash), without annoying the rest of the drivers the other 99.9% of the time. But I don't have as much control over what's happening behind me, so I'll let my tailBlazer do it's thing to catch people's eye when I hit my brakes.

| ive been considering it. I see no problem with them. I know that before I rode myself, I saw a bike or two with 'em, and I noticed it. that has got to say something.

| Throttle Jockey ![]() | I saw a guy just this weekend with a modulator. Amazing at how easily he was seen. I'm definately considering it for my M. I saw the guy coming through a very congested area...while a straight hunk of road, it's very busy with people pulling on and off in this one section...I saw this guy from way off, flashing away. The flashing made me look at him...these things seem to be a VERY GOOD THING! |
