| Hey everyone, new guy here. Im buying a new bike in october! im so excited, cant wait. heres the deal, its come down to either a 06 gsxr-600 or an r6. yes i said r6 on a suzuki forum, sorry. I know this place is gonna be a bit biased but try to keep an open mind for me. Or why dont you explain to me why you chose a suzuki over everything else? pros? cons? One other note: im 5'9" and i can flatfoot the gsxr but not the r6. is this important? the r6 is like 2" taller than the gsxr.

| If you have never riden a bike beofre, may I suggest you try the latest ZX-14R ? I mean it's got tons of power and torque and it will do 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and 1/4 miles in 9. I strongly recommend you get this rather than the tiny 600-cc bikes. |

| Wants Better Weather ![]() | sholdnt start out on such powerful bikes, i regret starting on a kan-o-tuna, its mroe than i could handle, and contributed ALOT to my need for speed which i have no idea how i got over... they're both insanely quick bikes, i'd say dont get either. looks and speed arent everything when you cant show it off when your 6 feet under... |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Forum ... Search ... Newbie ... First Bike + GSX-R or R6 = BAD. "R" Bikes are NOT newbie bikes. Period. We WERE a Suzuki forum, but this forum is now vendor-independent. Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, BMW, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, Buell, Harley, ... the brand doesn't matter here.

You say here that are you are buying a new bike, but do not mention if you have any riding experience, without this kind of information, it makes it hard to give good advice. Other than assuming that you have no riding experience, then the appropriate advice would be sign up for an MSF course, and start on a smaller 500cc or less machine to develop your skills, put some miles on, then and only then should you graduate to a more powerful bike, if you are so inclined. | The poster obviously has made up the mind so let's just let him/her be, tell him/her whatever he/she wants to hear, send him/her on the merry way, and not waste more of our collective energy trying to convince him/her otherwise, shall we ? Last edited by wookie; 07-19-2006 at 11:48 AM. |

When you're new on any forum, it's a good idea to error on being too polite than coming across annoying. Here's some advice, skip the r6, get an r1, have a few drinks and ride it home. Your SN is retarded too. Last edited by Clint; 07-19-2006 at 03:41 PM. | |

Why does a two year old with his fingers in his ears going " LALALALALALALALALALALALALALA" come to mind. Some of us around here have over 40 years of experience (you know that thing you don't have) and have seen what happens when you mix inexperience with an R rated bike. Dude you are not bulletproof. And not in like a wild Mustang (the horse not the car) that R rated bike might just jump up and bite you in the ***. It might even (as your nic suggests) nukeyour***.takeyourlife. You are wecome here (as long as you obey the rules) but don't expect anyone here to condone the choice you are making. It is irresponsible and immature.

![]() ![]() "Screw you guys!!! I don't know how to ride, but I'll get the R6 anyway! I can turn my wrist so that means I'm freakin' Valentino Rossi! Gosh, you guys are so MEAN!! Why are you picking on me? Daddy never hugged me!!!" Nice knowin' ya, Junior. Why ask for advice if you won't consider following it? I think we'll hear about your "progress" on the news. | Clunked into first gear ![]() | Even though your attitude doesn't condone serious advice, here's something to think about if you insist on the 600 R class bikes: (this applies to the 2006 R6) - it has a slip disc clutch, a cable throttle, the gas tank is just cosmetic - the ACTUAL gas tank is below the "gas tank" fixture to give the bike a much lower center of gravity when turning. That bike is designed to tear up the track and make very tight turns and dip HARD. The 2006 GSXR on the other hand is a widower. Very rigid bike, almost very little room for error. Very unfaithful, GSXR's are known to be sloppy for a beginner rider. If you don't know what you're doing, it can be riding you instead of you riding your bike. If you give into social pressure that easily, and want to skip level 1 2 and 3, do yourself a favor, and get a 2003 R6. Much better bike for a beginner than a brand new 2006 - totally different - instead of being a "much better bike" it's a much more "user friendly" bike. OR , thinking back to your posts... you can get an r1, have a few long islands, and ride home real fast. |
