| I am taking my bike in for its 18,000km service tonight and had talked to my service man about having tires on hand when needed. Last time I was in, I told him I would go with OEM as they seem to be giving good service. He was busy and did not have the price handy and told me he would let me know next time I stopped by. So I stopped by last Friday, are you ready: Canadian dollars, IRC tires. rear; $436.00 front;$273.00 He said he was as shocked as I was, my jaw was resting on the floor. He said he did not order them but ordered a set of bridgestone Excedria's. These are about half the price, I will discuss with him today, I was ready to loose my cool last Friday, but I guess I will have to buy south of the border. I do not mind a few dollars for the shop but OEM are like a $155 US a set. |

| Interestingly enough that is the price for the tires if you order them from Suzuki but you can get the same tires through another distributor for less then half. I ran into the same thing when they did the insurance quote on my bike.

| That is what he said that the tires were quoted from Suzuki. But that also means he is using the double or triple markup. Online quotes from US OEM dealers are a lot lower. I would rather spend my money with locals, but at these prices I can not afford it. I ordered a Mustang Seat from Extreme as the Mustang dealer, here, wanted $704.95 before taxes and I paid $449.24 before taxes. Cdn. dollars. I will talk to the shop again today and maybe I will take a ride south for a tire swap. |

| On items made in the US, there is no duty. The seat is made in the US, so sent thru the post office I pay a $5 collection fee and the PST and GST. I do not mind that. So on the tires I will talk to my shop tonight. |

| $740 Cdn vs $154 US= 4 times the price The Quote was for OEM thru Suzuki. Dr ran into the same on his quote so had purchased thru another distributor. I went with the Bridgestone as I got a discount which was agreeable as they are holding the tires till needed. |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Um, I just put a set of Metzeler Roadtec Z6 on my bike ... and paid something like CDN 600 mounted. I could have ordered the rubber on-line and would have saved about CDN 100 - 150, but the mounting costs about CDN 75, so I really wouldn't have saved much...

My friend who rides a ninja is absolutely happy with his aftermarket Michelin tires (pilot power), more so than the OEM Bridgestone BT014. I also recently got Michelin Pilot Road for my SV and I like it much more so than the OEM Dunlop 220. Of course, your bike is a cruiser so the results may not duplicate. | |

| I could have saved about $100 if I ordered from South of the border, but I am prepared to pay a fair $ for my local shop. The diff. on the seat was over $200, that was too much so I ordered thru Extreme. |
