Default Journal of a killer Alaskan riding day adventure

First off, I don't post here much, lurk mostly, but here at work, 4am in the morning, bored as hell, reading tons of posts, I thought I might contribute a tad, sorry though, no pics!

First off, I live in Anchorage Alaska, possibly one of the most beautiful places on the planet- and I have been to many places on the planet!

I am a recently divorced single father trying to recover from the emotional crash of it all- and riding is one of my great therapies. So I ride hard. I ride when I can. Most of the time, not for two long- I have two babies in the house.

Okay, enough back story!

So today, ex picks up kids for her half week of part time being the mama- and I have four hours before work. So I call a friend, a good riding friend, and lo and behold, no points racing or track day today on sunday- and he wants to ride- and it gets better!

He just finished putting the street legal stuff back on his Gixxer 750 (all legal now except for the slicks) and asks me to ride on over, and let's go for a spin, me on his Gixxer 1000 and him on the track bike 750. He informs me that two other riders will be joining us, for some naughty dirty hooligan fun (we ar all over 40 BTW). One guy has a street/trackday R6, the other guy, an FJR 1300, and they have some bluetooth tech or something that allows them to do two way on the radio between bikes. So we roll down to this killer twisty road with all new asphault under the shadow of a mountain called "pioneer peak" ,. We roll down to the bridge that marks the end of our little impromptu corner carving session, and the dude parks his FJR 1300 to keep us informed of traffic and johnny law.

We roll back to the begining of this road, about a 5 mile drive via very nice twisties to the Knik river bridge where the FJR is, and even spray paint a couple "this is your line" markers on the more technical corners, we get the go ahead from teh R6 running "sweep" that is in contact with the FJR- and OMG DO WE RAIL THOSE TWISTIES.

It was like jumping out of an airplane and into a roller coaster adrenilin high motogp live wire fun!

We did this for about 2 hours, each of us taking turns at the FJR, no video or pic evidence due to impending lawlessness of our actions-

and, I know, flame away- but, dammit, some point in everyone's life, I would suggest just a wee bit of lawbreaking wot?

Another cool part of the day- and a little money saving tip- I was loaned my buddies custom one piece, because he doesn't fit in it- and, rare enough, he is as linebacker big as I am, but has gained some serious weight, and it no longer fits him- so I am going to buy it off him for 300 bucks! he spent damn near 2K on it, and is too fat to wear it now! I look like a Motogp racer on steroids and growth hormones in it LOL

So, today, I went out and broke the law, in a controlled and responsible as you can be when you break the law, manner, without endangering any innocent passers-by. I rode a kick *** sport bike from hell! It looks like I got a killer deal on a one piece! I had killer sparks flying off my Ti knee pucks! I was on a bike that I could actually make killer sparks fly off my Ti knee pucks!

What a good day all in all!

Ah, the joys of being a 41 year old hooligan in the great white north!

Sounds like a great day. I use riding as a therapy as well, as I'm sure many other riders do.

This is why I bought a cruiser, fear that I would be tempted by the call of the twisties and I just don't bounce like I used to.

I see no problem with having some fun responsible. I indulge in it too, once u know u are not gonna crash into something. Tell me?! who owns a sport bike and doesnt at least have some fun w/ it? Its like telling me a crack dealer doesnt sample his own products.
