Default Help!

Hi guys,

My name's Julian from SA. Recently purchase a GSXR 400. A real pleasure to ride but its petrol consumption is ridiculous - 12km/litre. Can somebody tell me what it should be more or less and how to fix the problem. I've adjusted my riding style so as not to put the bike under unnecessary stress but still down to 12km/l. When I do race a bit it down to low 11's. Please help?!

Can someone do a mpg conversion? I'd start by checking vacuum lines for leaks, the carbs for stuck floats and proper jetting, and for any dragging brakes or other parts. You should get 60 mpg or better, I'd think.

Welcome to the forum. Please fill out your profile so we know a little about you (such as where "SA" is -- San Antonio? South America?).

Hmm, that sounds like it's burning WAY too much fuel. My bike (a 4-cylinder, 1403ccm engine) "drinks" about 6 liters per 100km = 16.6 km / liter. Your bike should be running around 20 km / liter = 5 liter / 100km = 47 mpg.

Default Gsxr 400

Hi,

I've taken my bike to a mech who says it might be worn emulsion tubes in the carb.

I'll let you know what he says after he's stripped it.

Regards,
Julian

A Gixxer 400? That's a 750 running on 2 cylinders, right?

Smile Gsxr 400

Yeah, will try and get them loaded on this PC once I figure out how. It's hard though, to operate machines that don't have a throttle ... baffles the mind.

Will get on it!

Cheers!

Check the Test forum for help on uploading the images on here. To upload them to your PC, then check the software with your digicam (assuming that's what you have).
