Soak up as much info as possible. Ask questions. Read books. Don't ride beyond your ability, the bikes ability, the headlights at night, and don't ride faster than you can react to. This is the stuff that will help keep you on the safe side of riding.

I like the way you put it stp1971.
I agree the MSF class opens your eyes to situations you can find yourself in and gives you a basic comfort on your bike. The big thing is to practice, practice, read books and talk with people. The MSF class will put you on the right path to a long and safe motorcycling journey.
