Default Squid alert

I was coming home tonight, running about 70 on the spedo (64 on the GPS) on a 4 lane 55 mph road. All of a sudden a 750 GIXXER comes flying by me, I think to myself, if I wasn't on the M50, I might be able to have some fun with this guy. The M50 is a nice bike, but definitely no competition for a 750 GIXXER, so I just let him go. Well, as soon as he gets by me, he just slows down, now were going about 60, and I stay behind, because I don't want this guy to think I want to race him. We come up to a left hand sweeper that's marked for 45 mph, and this guy starts showing brake lights, I think WTF, this is a easy 70 mph turn, even on the M50, so I change lanes, and pass him. That must have really pissed him off, because as soon as we got going straight again, he blows by me doing about 100, cutting in, and out of traffic. I think to myself, squid alert, and settle back down to the 70 that traffic is running. I hope he got home alright.

As we often say ... anyone can twist the throttle and go straight. The curves are what separate the men from the boys (and the women from the girls).

That's just the thing, he did, and the bike started to straighten up on him. Than he would release the brake, and lean back over, repeat this twice, very quickly and it caused his bike to wobble. That's when I decided to go around him.

Oh, see the way you worded it, he hit the brakes before going into the turn. Wow, he really is a class "A" squid.

He did that too,(hit the brakes early) but it wasn't till he started to wobble that I decided to go around him. Class "A" squid is right, he couldn't hold his line, and there were cars in front of us that were pulling away, at that point we were down to about 50 on my speedo.

I sure as hell know I slow down going into corners if I havn't been there before. Already had one misshap with a ****load of sand in the middle of a corner for no apparent reason.

Slow down BEFORE entering the turn - that's the proper procedure. Slowing down IN the turn is bad. You should be OFF the brakes before you lean the bike, and should enter the curve with enough safety margin that you can react to avoid a surface hazard by leaning more or standing the bike up WITHOUT having to hit the brakes.

The way he acted in the turn only showed he didn't have much riding time.
The squid part came later when he went zipping through traffic, cutting cars off, just so he could get back past me. After he flew by me, I watched him change lanes 4 times in the space of about 10 to 15 seconds.

There are some squids out there that are very talented riders, this guy was a squid, and a newbe. A very dangerous combo on a 750 GIXXER

I'll be the first to admit that I had exhibited some squid-like behavior when I was less experienced, but I ALWAYS had respect for fellow riders. Props to you for keeping your cool.
