Default The wave has to go

I don't mind the wave to an occasional rider, but when you pass a couple hundred bikes in an hour forget about it!

Ya got that many bikes in Indy? I enjoy givin' the low wave. It sorta gives me reason to rest my arm. Anyway, I’m from the South and we wave at everyone.

If I pass that many bike in an hour I might have an opinion on it. So far I would say I pass maybe 25 a day when I'm out riding, I really don't see it as a issue.

I always wave back if someone waves at me, but I usually don't wave first, unless it is a situation where being on a bike is not the best option, like in the very early spring, or real late fall. I guess it makes me feel like a real biker!!! lol

Everyone around here waves except half the Harley riders. Those harley riders that don't wave must think that we are pretend bikers or something. Maybe they are just trying for dear life to holding on so that their bike doesn't vibrate them off.

A couple of weeks ago I was heading north on interstate 77, it was the first day of the bike rally at Myrtle Beach. I must have passed 2000 bikes heading south in just 2 hours. Glad I was in the cage.

New has nothing to do with it; I've been riding for nearly 30 years (over thirty if you count my dirt bike days as a kid) and I still wave to other riders, even the Harley riding profilers.

Although, when I'm riding down to Americade, I'll usually wave to the leader of a group -- sometimes they're spread out over a mile, and Route 9N is twisty..

I wave too, but it's the other guy that initiates it first, then I respond in fractions of a second. Otherwise, I nod.

i enjoy the wave, at first it was a sign of acceptance into the community of bikers. now i'm starting to see the cagers react to it when i'm out and i think its even more powerful. you know they're looking at you, they always are, youre on a bike and therefore 'cool' (except for EZridr1 who keeps posting pics of my girlfriend as his sig) then they see how polite and courteous we bikers are to each other with things like the wave - even across medians and divided highways - and surrendering right-of-way so a fellow biker wont get stuck behind a hazardous cage etc. the little things we do for each other because we have to think about what we're doing, as well as think about what others are doing, and consider how everything is going to come together; and, i may be nuts, but i could swear i'm starting to see cages around me start to ease off a bit and start acting according to their surroundings instead of reacting to their own idiocy.

would i wave at 200 bikes in a row? no.
(but i may flip a bizzle and jump in line to see where the party's at!)

You just have to bring my sig up on what ever thread I happen to post on, don't you? Find your own damn sig! She's mine!

Sorry for the hijack. Back to topic...

Interesting thing concerning "the wave" happening to me today.

For the life of me, not one person on a cruiser would aknowledge mine, but every single street/sport bike rider I encountered waved or noded.

Wanted to mention.....I had a gentlemen on a nice looking ninja pull up next to me at a stop light.

I glance over and as we noded to one another, the one thing that stands out is this huge grin on his face, yes he had a fullface helmet on, but ya could just tell, ya know......

..anyway, I'm thinkin' to myself..."what's the joke". So when we get the green and start out, that's when I noticed the temporary plate on the back....aahh, ok, now I get it, (new bike=happy person).

I've been riding for 31 years now and I have to say that this year bikes on the road have increased almost to the point of you may as well wave at every car when your in your car. i think it's great that we are pretty much taking over, but man!! And yesterday i cruised to huson leathers in pioneer ohio (i'm in northern indiana) Must have been over 2000 people out and that's just near the ohio/indiana border. After dusk though (I got home at 11pm) there wasn't hardly anyone. I certainly hope it continues, but I gotta say sometimes I miss the days when you'd see maybe 2 other riders all day long. (no offense)

here in Des Moines if ya wave your going to get run over by a cage at some point. there are times when its clear to wave but with the traffic an the fact that people here are too busy on the darn phones, pda, radios ect. they will run ya over and thinks its a speed bump.

if someone waves to me i will wave if its clear or then its just the nod.

I had found that every sportbike rider would wave at me, but about half of cruisers wouldn't.

So I started putting my hand out sooner, and now a LOT more cruisers wave back at me. Maybe they just don't have good reaction times?

But yea, I'll wave at ANYBODY on a bike, I don't care what kind it is.
