If you've never owneda bike before, most here would suggest starting with something less powerful..

breakin varies from person to person, some say 150 miles, others say 500..maintenance is in the manual, just keep up on it, change the oil at frequent intervals.

I'd have to agree here. A gixxer 600 is a pretty powerful bike for a newbie.

i understand that the gixxer6 is a powerfull bike for a bigginer so i know i am going to have to ride like it really slow and cautios for a quite a while before i can actually "ride" the bike but that is ok with me

im not going to tell you what to do but i dont recommend it. on a gixxer its not about speed its about mistakes. they are amplified tremeandously. it wouldnt even be fun for a beginner to ride and youd hate it for a long time.

one little nervous twitch on the throttle and your in a situation where 5-10 years experience would really, really help.

that said its your life so let me see if i can answer your question.

you can either follow the owners manual or you can do what many guys on this forum do and use information provided here: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

you make the call, but no matter what, be safe. definitley take the msf so youll be as good of a rider as you can be on that bike.
