Default New Bike Shopping - Bartlesville Cyclesports

Hey guys/gals,

I just found this site looking for info on a Suzuki M50. I'm pretty sure that is the bike I want.

Anyway.... Just wondering if anybody has stories or opinions (good or bad) for Bartlesville Cycle Sports in Bartlesville Oklahoma.

http://www.bartlesvillecyclesports.c...40I58JPMQ999R0

They beat my local dealer (Wichita) by about $1000. So, is it worth the 3-hour trip?

Thanks…. I look forward to reading and posting here hopefully with a new M50.

p.s. Any replies early Thursday morning would be appreciated because I will probably be calling them up Friday to go out there Saturday if there are no horror stories.

I take it that you've already been to Mid America Powersports. I'm a local Wichita rider too (but not for much longer), and that's where I got my M50. I'm sorry to say, though, that I haven't dealt with Bartlesville Cycle Sports. Hopefully someone from Oklahoma can chime in.

Weird thing, I met a fella who originally wanted to buy my M50 when it was still in the showroom. However, I beat him to the punch and he ended up buying his M50 in OK (didn't say what dealership). He ended up saving about $700 while I got mine at MSRP. We met each other at MAP about 4 months after I got the M50.

The question now is if you get the bike, are you riding it home or trailering it?

BTW, are you on the East or West side of town (I'm in the East)?

For a thousand dollars less I would definitely purchase the bike there. One thing I would do is before venturing out there, is make sure you have something in writing.

Yes I've been to Mid America. Basically $100 off MSRP and then +$220 for Freight and set-up. Hutchinson would do MSRP including Freight and Shipping (over the phone, said he might do better if I head over there in person).

The price seems really good at Bartlesville. There is one other place in Missouri that is actually $100 cheaper then Bartlesville. So, the price at Bartlesville isn't unbelievable.

But that would be a 5+ hour drive from here (one way).

Oh yeah, 3 hours to Bartlesville is one direction. My plan was to drive it back. I'm new to bikes. Took the course and that is about it. Am I biting off more then I can chew? I could get a friend in a truck to drive down and haul it back in the truck. I'd have to call, make sure they have the one I want, get the serial number and probably give them a deposit to hold it for me. Doesn't seem like much can go wrong. The dealers here try to sell me on the life long relationship we will develop. But, they don't do a very good job and I don't see that the service received from the service department would change based on where I buy the bike. What if I buy a used one from some guy on the street? Will they treat me poorly because I never bought it from them?

Ezridr1, I'm in old town. Are you moving out of Wichita? Do you like the M50? Did you buy it this year? I was deciding between the Honda Aero 750, Suzuki C50 and M50. I like the look (cruiser, yet sporty) and feel of the M50 the most. Plus, I think the EFI and slightly larger engine are bonus.

Thanks for the input so far...

I haven't had problems with the service department at MAP so far. It helps when you change the oil yourself as that cuts down a lot of that cost. Be prepared to take a hit for the valve adjustments on the first service though. It sucks that MAP is the only Suzuki dealer in town, which means that they are not too inclined to be flexible with you on prices. You're better off getting the bike at Bartlesville. Having a friend's pickup truck helps too. That way, you don't have to deal with the "baptism of fire" trying to ride the M50 on a three hour trip home. It would be better to practice your riding on your neighborhood or empty parking lot before venturing out into traffic.

I got my M50 April of last year. It's my first bike since high school. I still remember my first ride on the M as if it were yesterday. A sporty look, as well as EFI, shaft drive, and tubeless tires are the reasons why I chose this bike. I think this bike will be a keeper. Oh yeah, don't forget to check out the M50 getaway forums. Folks there do some really insane things to their rides.

I'm an Active Air Force member stationed at McConnell AFB, which is why I live in Wichita. I live about five miles from the base. I'll be transferring to Hawai'i in October. I love Kansas and I've met some wonderful people here, but I'm ready to soak in some of that island sun and hook up with some island honeys. Perhaps we can do a Cassidy run together before I leave. It would be my first, so I'll have to do that before I leave the mainland.

Do a price check here. www.cycletrader.com

Use the prices to get a better price. Go talk to them in person.

I got $800 off list, no freight or dealer prep. There are lots out there who did better.

Good luck.

ps, C50's rock......

Yeah,

Cycletrader is where I found Bartlesville. Across the country there is basically prices on the internet for MSRP (6799/6899) or discounted pricing at 5999/6099. So, I know their price is not absurdly low. Just wondering if they are good to deal with. I sent an e-mail to Ponca City but haven't heard back from them. I might give them a call. So far Bartlesville has impressed me the most and I've dealt with them the least. I called one day to check the prices on the internet (see if they had a "sale" price for the M50 because they do for the C50). Asked a few questions. Their website is one of the better dealer sites I've found. The dealer here basically said they will be able to sell their stock at MSRP so they don't want to discount. No competition in the city doesn't help my bargaining power.

Thanks again for the input guys.... Still looking for anybody who bought a bike from Bartlesville to chime in. Let me know if they are on the "up and up".

That looks like a good deal, especially since the point out that the price includes setup and freight - many dealers advertise low prices and then lay on some bogus fees to jack it back up.

I'd pocket the $1000 and get this deal.

Well... I finally called up Bartlesville and they don't have any in stock (black or blue). They should be getting some in a few weeks... I'll just check back later or shop around some more. I'm pretty busy the next couple weeks to go pick it up anyway. I talked to the dealer here again and they said they only have one and won't get anymore that is why they won't move on the price.

Anyway... I'm in no rush and want to find a deal or will keep an eye out for a used 05. Thanks for the input guys. I'll post back again if/when I get one....

Maybe I'll end up paying MSRP afterall...

I am in Topeka and a buddy and I went in together and bought on the same day. They were so happy to see us in Feb. and get rid of two bikes in one day that we got a pretty good deal ( pretty similar to what I saw on your link)

Okay... So Ponca City e-mailed me back and said they could give me the price I asked for (6250 including freight and set-up). Not as good as 6099 but it is 1.5 hours closer plus they just got in a blue one so I won't have to wait weeks to get it.... Still have to confrim the deal with them. Couldn't get in touch with them today and they are closed Sunday and Monday.

Anyway... Has anybody delt with Ponca City Wheelsports before?

Well, I decided to get the bike from Wheelsport Ponca City.
The deal was smooth. They had the bike ready to go for the price agreed to Out the Door.!

Post over in M50 Land...
