Default Ignition Key Switch

I had someone put plastic in my ignition key slot and I cannot get all of it out and key no longer works. Is changing the switch something I can do myself or does it need to be dealer done. Im 140 miles from nearest dealer. I already have 4200 miles on my 2006 C50T and had planned another 300 today, but oh well. thanks for any and all help. John

It depends on how handy you are, and a service manual would be really good for that job too. You might want to go to the dealer so you can get it fixed and keep the same key for your ignition and your gas cap.

I hope the SOB who did that to your bike develops leprosy and several parts of his body fall off...

Does anyone where you are have a compressor? Hold the keyhole cover back with a paperclip, fishhook, wire, etc. then use the smallest nozzle available with the compressor and blow air in the top and bottom of the keyhole.

Hope you get on the road soon. And whoever did this, may his Karma run over his dogma.

If you do change out the ignition, remember the helmet lock and the storage compartment. May want to change those locks too to stay on one key.

What did you do to someone that they jacked you up like that?

When I was a wee little lad I super glued my neighbor’s car locks.

Sorry, I don’t have any advice for you.

Well Life is good, I tried compressed air, for cleaning computers, My shop Vac, paper clips, small fishing hooks bent, puting stickem onto the key to no avail, then my one of my girlfriends suggested a LOCK SMITH. 30 dollars and 30 seconds later i'm mobile again, he used a special hook/tool and WD-40and out came all of the plastic, yea for lock smiths....thanks all. oh yea that was 4 hours and 150 miles ago...
