Default Engine oil leaking

Hello

Recently I had the first service for my new GZ250 (after break in). Return ride to my house is 30 minutes. I noticed that there is an oil leak. I thought that the cap (from where we put the oil in the engine) is loose and oil splashed from there. It was slightly loose anyway. I cleaned and drove another 20 miles and the oil leaked again. Then I did a thorough check and found out that the oil leak from the engine (gaskit was faulty). I drove the bike back to the dealership and they told me that they will fix the problem. There was enough oil in the engine and bike is running Ok. My question is did this in anyway damaged the engine or any part like piston, rings etc. or could cause problems in the future. The guys at dealership are nice and they were saying nothing is wrong but I want to be sure to claim if anything could be wrong.

Experts please help.

As long as you didn't lose a massive amount of oil, you should be okay.

How badly was it leaking? Sounds like the oil filter gasket is what you're talking about. I doubt you leaked enough to cause any damage.

You'd probably have seen a low oil light before any damage occurred. Like they said, a little seepage is not a concern. Heck, Harleys would be dropping off like flies...

Sorry, Rowdy. That GZ250 has no low oil light, at least if I remembered it correctly.

harleys don't leak oil, they are just marking their territory...

now the savage has a certain oil leakage problem but i discovered that a little oil leaking looks like an awful lot because between the heat and the wind it spreads over a greater area and picks up dirt making it look like even more.

just keep an eye on the oil level regularly. you'd have to have had it literally pouring out to have damaged the bike.

HD runs a total loss oiling system. Just be sure to add more when you gas up.

As far as your GZ250 having permanent damage, not likely. You didn't mention which gasket was leaking. I wouldn't worry about it if the dealership fixed it. If it leaks again, then I'd be worried.

Default GZ 250 oil leak

Thanks guys for help, the oil leak was from the engine (top head). the gaskit was not properly installed. The leak was not much. They put the new gaskit and so far the bike is doing ok.

That's called the valve cover gasket, not the head gasket. FYI.

I have a simular leak, what gaskit was it? The head or the rocker cover?
