Default Remember your first season riding?

Being that this is my first spring riding, I really hope that the things I am experiencing don't become so routine that I overlook them in years to come.

I thought I'd share some of these joys I experience as new rider :

1. Watching the weather the night before like I am waiting for the OK to go out on a mission of great importance.
2. Getting my gear ready the night before like I am getting ready to go on vacation.
3. Getting up to a nice day with reasonable temperatures and feeling like my day is not going to be routine just because I get to ride to work.
4. Putting my gear on, zippering every zipper and fastening every snap like I am stepping into an F15 for a morning fly over.
5. Pulling my bike out of the garage like the whole world is watching and feeling like I am the only one doing this this morning.
6. Starting my bike and checking her over like she is a part of me.
7. Pulling out of my driveway like I am about to go on a great adventure.
8. Feeling the wind, smelling the smells (for some reason even horse@#$ smells good on a bike), executing the curves smoothly, shifting smoothing, stopping the bike and putting my feet down with great timing.
9. Staying alert and focusing only on staying safe and enjoying the ride is alot like meditation, your so focused it clears your mind of all the junk.
10. The biker waves making you feel like your apart of an elite group.
11. Getting to work, the greetings from fellow employess asking how your ride was and sitting at your desk watching the weather knowing your going to do it all again in 8 hours!
IT IS AWESOME!

This is my 3rd season and I'm still like you Jim.

For me, I found a website with a radar of rain in the area. I time my departures from home and work with this tool

Rained yesterday, I rode in but didn't get wet! (I would have riden anyway, but the site tells me if I put my rain gear on or not).

I didn't wear much gear then. I didn't even wear pants some days. It was a thrill to pull in to the motorcycle lot at SCSU and park right in the middle of campus, thereby avoiding the parking nightmare cagers endured.

I always felt cool carrying my helmet into class.

Hmmm,,, I thought that was how it always is. I didn't know it was only with your first season of riding.

And for the record,, when I pull my bike out everyone is watching!!!!!

Honestly, I don't remember what I had for breakfast, let alone my first riding season 22 years ago! But after all that time, I still have the same thrill each and every time I throw a leg over a motorcycle.

It's not so bad getting up to go to work in the morning if you're riding in.

well this is my first season also and I'm enjoying it totally
I see a lot of cycle riders here not wearing any protection except maybe a helmet sense the weather broke, but I'm still wearign my leathers jacket and chaps as well as my helmet,
not sure how hot I can take full leathers but plan on tryin to wear them as much as possible, I want to be safe, I enjoy riding too much to chance geting hurt doin it.

Its been a few years, but I remember the good 'ol days of riding. I'd go riding till like 2 am every day. Then get up and ride some more. I miss those days.

I could have asked if you remember the LAST time you had sex but I figured this would be easier.

This is my first "full" season as well, and your checklist sounds just right. =)
No matter how crappy the work day may have been, I always know the ride home will make it all better.. yeehaw!
