Well I just couldn't pass it up. I have been playing with the idea of getting a naked SV 650 for the last couple of months, almost bought a low mileage 1999 that a guy had for $3900 about 6 weeks ago. He wouldn't budge on the price, and the next guy to look at it bought it. Than last Wednesday a friend mentioned to me that he knew of a 2002 for sale for $3200. The bike was due to go in the paper next week. I talked him down to $3000, and bought it. The bike is black, has just under 6800 miles on it, and has never been down, except for a tip over in the driveway. All broken parts were replaced. The bike has been ridden a lot on the highway, tire wear attests to that. There's a flat spot down the center. The rear will need to be replaced soon, everything else looks good to go. I put about 100 miles on it today, and I can't find anything to complain about. Other than it's a bit cold blooded. Once it's warmed up, that 650 motor sure is smooth!! Anybody want to chime in with any problems I should be watching for. On a side note, the guy that sold me the SV is a custom bike painter. He is going to work up some sketches on a Batman theme custom paint job for my M50. He figures he can wet sand the stock black paint, airbrush the Batman murals over that, than 3 or 4 clear coats to finish it off. Figures under $1500 for the whole works. I'm going to check out some examples of his work before I give him the OK, but so far it sounds very promising. |
