Default I got pulled over this weekend.

It's bike week here in Phoenix, so there are tons of bikes out- not to mention a lot more cops than usual. It was an undercover cop. I WAS going about ten over, but in Phoenix, that's the average speed unless you're in a residential area (no joke). The reason he pulled me over is because he said that "nothing came up when I ran your plate." Long story short, he let me off with a verbal warning.

There's aboslutely nothing wrong with my license, and I asked him if the situation with my plate could be corrected. He said no, but as long as the information comes up when they run my driver's license number, everything will be fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this give every cop on the road an excuse to pull me over? Has this happened to anyone else here?

Sounds like harassment to me.

Hmmmm,,,if I was you I'd go put a chain and lock on the doors of the local doughnut shop and spray paint bad cop on it.

Yes, they can all come up with an excuse to pull you over and there isn't anything you can do about it. I been pulled over once before for my break light not working on my first bike. Well, as soon as the cop told me why he pulled me over, I looked and it was working. Magic? I don't think so.

I remember reading a page that you had linked on the "Have You Been Hand cuffed" thread. Good thing that cop didn't see your rant there. You may have ended up like Rodney King.

Was the cop a biker or in a cage?
In Florida I have seen some BS going on..especially with the noise laws.

Years ago, I was actually pulled over for running a yeild sign!?!?!?!!

I asked the cop to explain to me how that is possible and if he couldn't then I would asked the judge when I fought the ticket. I was let go with a warning.

Harassment is only the case if the officer continued to keep him on scene or pulled him over several times for stupid reasons.

"Nothing came up" is a bull**** reason and I have asked a few other officers who said they have never heard of this before. He knew that you wouldn't have known he was pulling your leg, so he came up with that.

You *should* be able to go to the DMV and have them clear up the "nothing came up" situation for your plates. That would give the LEOs one less reason to pick you out of the crowd.

Have to say I mostly agree. I understand being pulled over and harrassed sucks, but at the same time it always makes my day go better when I get off with out a ticket after being pulled over. Hell if I were a cop, I'd pull people over all the time, just to let them go. Kinda makes there day.

I'm definitely not complaining. Like I said- he let me walk, and he wasn't even a jerk about it.

The main purpose of this post (as stated in my last paragraph) was to see if anyone else has encountered a similar situation.

Never been pulled over before.

I watched a guy get hand cuffed and carted off today though. I was ~50ft away so couldn't hear them. Pulled him over (speeding?) and sat in his for for ~15 minutes. Cop never got out of his SUV, jsut sat there. Then another cruiser came along with 2 cops, all 3 got out and started talking to the guy. Pulled him out of the car eventually and hand cuffed him, padded him down and put him in the car. Then they proceeded to rip apart his pretty nice BMW, took a few things I couldn't really see (they were all in grocery bags, maybe drugs) and then left. His car was left as well, just sitting on the side of the road. My guess is he got pulled for speeding, then when they ran his plates he had a warrant or something. Called for backup, arrested, end of story.

Dude, I hate to say it, but it's the start of squid season and you were guilty by association simply because you happen to ride a sportbike. My brother, who lives in San Diego, has gone though long periods last spring/summer without riding because of too many squids on the road. He rides a 600RR and a ZX-9R. A cop actually pulled him over once to tell him one of the headlights on his 600RR is not working and was going to issue a citation. Well duh! One of the lights is the high beam and the other is the low beam. Same thing for my F4i.

What I find odd is that even though So Cal has mild winters, you still won't see the squids on the roads. What a bunch of p-p-p-... oh, fuhgeddaboudit!

Same goes for Phoenix. It's never colder than about 38 in the mornings in the dead of winter, and heats up to about 50 in the day. I rode all winter long. As a Michigan native, I'm almost obliged to appreciate it!

Sounds to me like you met a gay cop. Now he has your address.
