You know a Harley is a real bike. Heck 95% of them are still on the road today. There were 5% that made it home though.

Default not so much just harley riders

I wasn't talking specifically about riders of any brand of bike but it is the harley guys that seem to do the most logo brandishing. Counting harley logos on people is also a habit of mine at these things. One guy had as follows:
1. Harley jacket
2. Harley t shirt
3. Harley head wrap
4. Harley belt and buckle
5. harley boots
6 harley gloves
7 harley glasses

He probably had the chain wallet, wrist watch and boxer shorts all with the logo on them, but I can do with out seeing the last one any way. I highly doubt the dealer give him all that when he bought the bike, harley doesn't give anything away.

I have all that stuff to, problem is, I sold my Harley. Now most of that stuff is in boxes, and I don't wear it anymore. I only keep it in-case I ever buy another one. It was kind of funny, I looked in my closet after selling my HD, and said "Crap" now I have to buy a whole new wardrobe, I can't wear any of this stuff anymore. I think one of the reasons HD markets there line of clothes, is to keep people riding there brand. Kind of smart if you think about it.

I have always maintained that HD is a manufacturer of designer clothes. However, these clothes also serve as advertisement, as Rickster already alluded to. Although I've owned a Sportster in the past, the only ties to HD I have left is a coin purse. No t-shirts, jackets, bandanas, etc.

I have two HD T-shirts ... one from Australia, and the other from Oregon. (Both were presents ... I didn't buy them myself). I'll probably pick one up at the local HD dealer here in Basel, too.

Why? ... Why not? I also have an official jersey from the SC Freiburg (their main sponsor is Suzuki automobiles), but I don't wear it very often (since Freiburg has dropped into the 2nd league). I don't own a HD, but when people see a HD shirt, they know I ride a bike. Most people can't tell the difference anyway.

Why take these things so seriously ? If I wanted to have some t-shirt with an acronym, it's because I think it's fun, not like I think of it as deep. It's just another t-shirt in my closet, period Anyhow, what people would think of a t-shirt I'm wearing is something I really don't put a lot of thought to

Are you telling me that t-shirt just came out of the closet? It's not rainbow colored, is it?

Default i have a couple HD shirts also

I have a couple hd shirts also. One from Hawaii and one from Vegas. Both gifts. And yes, I do wear them now and then. I have no problem with what people wear, it just seems to me that the people that have that many logos of any brand on their bodies at one time are posers. I'm all for capitalism and if HD can make money, fine. I just think they should put less funding into marketing, and more into research and development. Case and point......If they are the oldest motorcycle company around, why did they have to go to Porchse, a non American company, to design and build their first liquid cooled engine, 6 years ago, of which the Euros and Japenese have been doing for years

Probably because they can afford to subcontract Porsche due to the overabundance of profits generated by said marketing. Why expend valuable resources on R&D when you can just pay Porsche to help develop the engine? The Revolution turned out to be their best design IMO.

As far as t-shirts go, the only one I got that has remotely anything to do with HD is a 2004 Sturgis t-shirt which was given to me as a gift. Like I've said before, I do not have any t-shirts with HD logos. I do not have a need to wear one to tell the world I ride motorcycles. Actions speak louder than words. With that in mind, I would rather ride than be a walking, talking billboard.

Even if they subcontract R&D out, that's fine with me, as long as they're putting more into it then they have been. I have no problem with them using Porsche, or anyone else. This could be false, but I'd heard that at one point, dealers were told to deny this, or at least not offer the information of Porsche's contribution to the Vrod

Porsche engine, BMW transmission. It's common knowledge.
