Default The highway is boring!

I was reminded again how boring the superslabs really are. I took the long way home from work just now, so instead of 80* highway, it was more like 10% highway, and the rest was some twisty back roads, 60mph riding. It was a blast! The road I live down is THE best around here for riding. I will admit, I was doing a good bit over the speed limit, but there wasn't any other traffic around. I really can't stand just getting on the highway and doing 70-80mph. (just rambling)

I stay away from the super slab and use the smaller highways and back roads.
Slow down, enjoy the ride. I even go down deadend roads, just to check the scenery.

I just have to learn to remember to stick the camera in a bag.

The larger highways are fine for getting from point "A". to point "B" in the least amount of time, but the back roads are almost always more enjoyable.

Give me a two lane road anytime over a highway. I have lots around me here that are twisty and rolling hills, there great. And I can still get to where I want to go.

You have to admit that if you have to go on the highway, it's more fun on a bike than in a cage.

For a day trip use the highway to get to the twisty road to enjoy riding.

I'm not afraid of the highways, I just think they're boring. Who wants to go in a straight line at 80mph for more than a few minutes?

The highway ride is awesome . Backroads are awesome . A mixture of the two is unbelieveably cool !

Why do you say this Gixxer-Mike?

Because after a while of riding from light to light in tight, slow moving traffic there's no better feeling than to hit the highway & watch that temperature guage drop back down to normal while knowing that your engine is sighing in relief. Also, hittin' the curves to actually wear your tires in more than the regular "center/middle" enables you to get a bit more for your money .

Just a few of the many points that I like!

I have a good idea of the major roads around Killeen Texas and they are pretty boring not much of a challenge. My brother who lives in the area also takes mostly the back roads to have a fun ride.

The back roads in Kansas are about as straight as a crow flies. I'd much rather ride the superslab. At least they have some curves.

I like the Highways .... no side strret, don't have to look out for the jackasses turning left in front of you .... granted you have to keep and eye out for people merging ontop of you and all ... but speed and lane adjustment can prevent that from hapening. .... can ya smell meh?

You're close to Hwys 2 and 7 - good riding there...

After living in Japan for nearly three years, I dream of wide open superslab...

Not all highways are boring...
Guess it depends on where you're from. We've got some awesome highways to ride. One I plan to do this summer is the 'Sea to Sky' highway, heading from Vancouver up to Whistler/ Blackcomb Mountains.
One of the most dangerous hwy's around here, AKA sea to die...

The map doesn't reveal the most twisty of routes, but a million dollar view for almost 2 hours.

I just went on my first semi-long ride. It was about a 3 hour trip there and back. About a hour was spent on super-slabs and i have to say that was the most boring part of the trip. Backroads with hills and twists are what I enjoy.

You really need to find the old "highways"... Arround here in NEPA I-81 is just a short ride to connect to smaller old main drags such as Rt. 6 or Rt. 11. I haven't been on many long trips, but those are the ones my pop and uncle take their Wings on often. Then again, aparently my Uncle knows alot of roads near us that nobody prolly should know exist unless you live there.
