Man if I had to spend 8hr a day on that I'd need help unfolding myself at the end of the day.

How cool! If they're for real, I'd call them the Anti-Squid Squad.

It's pretty common for law-enforcement agencies to dress up confiscated vehicles, sometimes solely for publicity.

I think that about sums it up.

There's a suburb in Phoenix where motorcycle officers can be seen riding brand-new BMW cruisers. Almost makes me want to be a cop!

You never know, when Texas DPS rolled out Camero's and Mustangs on the highways in the early 90's no speeder was safe. But I doubt this one is used for any enforcement.

the texas dps uses confiscated vehicles like corvettes in their drug awareness programs in the schools.
but i have also seen them out on the interstate...

also, one of the small towns between where i live and amarillo has a silver mustang for it's sole police officer. can't remember if it's estelline or memphis.

I think that's just a publicity thing - I can tell by the pic that it was taken in "Bricktown", OKC's revitalized downtown area. Was probably some kind of photo op or something.

Our provincial police use BMW 1200-whatever. And they can U-turn on a dime. Seen it with my own eyes. They know their bike.

Ours use BMWs too.

Note the lack of radio equipment and lights on the busa, also the stickers would be reflective. The ones on the busa do not appear to be.

I on the other hand, look at the whole thing from a different perspective. Even if this picture is just a photo op for whatever cause, then it equally can foster the idea that cops can do as please as far as speeding under whatever reasoning. A commun reason to explain them speeding is that they undergo training. So do everybody else in order to obtain a driver's Lic. Insurance Cos. provide insentives (Such as % Disc) to get the public to attend some formal training a some sort. Well, if in reality training could justify the whole stinking issue of speed limit, then there is an obligation on the government to stablish guidelines and there is as well far better training facilities out here to teach anybody to handle whatever vehicle. It is even revolting to see it.

This MSF, with machines provided by the States, is about the first program I have seen in reference to motor vehicle handling and the gov't assisting the public without turning one's pockets inside out.
Is it Ok for Oklahoma St Patrol or any patrol to zoom across after somebody? Would it be OK for any Joe Blow to zoom across as well when in a emergent rush to get to whatever site?

Well the other side of the coin is that if people can ride bikes much faster than those used by police agencies then they are basically in the clear to do whatever they want without ever being caught.

As far as I know, not many places have many helicopters available for air pursuits.

I for one can live with giving law enforcement certain leeways under the right circumstances, the conditions under which pursuits can be done has come under scrutiny and guidelines have been issued.

very true uncle bob. I would bet that it is a publicity, or some one that had fun with a sticker maker at home. Either way it is interesting. If the officers talked about before in this thread can turn the BMW on a dime and have reat control and training on their bikes... Just imagine what this guy 'could' do.

If Speed limit is OK, then so should be an abligatory helmet wear law as well. They can easily be justified under equal arguments.

why do you assume its impossible to drive a busa under or at the speed limit? just because they CAN go fast doesnt mean they CANT be controlled. under your argument, any vehicle that exceeds the speed limit should be outlawed
