| Can anyone help ? Brought my sv650s six months ago and love the bike (apart from very dodgy finish ((rust on exhaust after 3 months & bubbling paint around filler cap etc)). Recently I'm having lots of trouble changing down gears. Normally the bike will drop down 1 gear but then nothing. I've tried engaging the engine again slightly and slipping the clutch to get the cogs spinning but this doesn't work; the only way I can change down is to actually let the bike cough and splutter in the wrong gear and then it will normally change gear. The problem doesn't happen changing up, only down. Its in for its six month service soon and I have made the dealer aware of the problem but if anyone has had this problem before I would be grateful of the advice just in case the dealer tries to fob me off or baffle me with science. Thanks for your time everyone. |

| Are you trying to downshift several gears at once, like at a stoplight? Most trannies will give you trouble if you do that. Make sure you're progressively bringing it down as you decellerate. You should be taking advantage of the available engine braking, anyway. Practice a light throttle blip to match the revs to the lower gear. It's delicious and nutritous!
