Default Where do you park your bike?

Just like the title says. At home, it goes straight into the barn (barn is the country boy's version of a garage!). At work, my boss lets me pull it inside the garage and park by the door to the parts room. Anywhere else, if it must be outside, it's in eyesight and the forks are locked!

At home it's either in my driveway covered, which is a pretty long driveway behind a potted palm tree (so it's hidden from direct view) and i have a high locked gate, or it's in the laundry room (adjacent to garage) in excessively hot weather or rain.

At work it's outside next to all the other bikes. There's plenty nicer bikes for someone to steal than my m50 at work so i don't worry too much about it. Plus there's security abound (defense contractor),

In a carport, well light, under a cover, with 2 cable locks, a disc with alarm, plus a alarm which disables the starter if tilted, disables the ignition if the
sensor senses a change in voltage. It also has option for both a pager and
RF sensor.

My Wing was not touched in the 9 years it was stored here.

My driveway, but i'm not too worried. I live on an AF Base. Besides the guy next door has a beautiful R6 and down the street is a CBR600RR. Just in case the potential theif wants a cruiser theres a V-Star and a Boulevard within 3 houses of that one. All these are much more expensive and better looking than mine. Again, i'm not too worried.

I live on an AF base but unforunately, I don't have a garage or a carport, only a community parking lot, with one space assigned to each house and all unmarked spots are first come, first serve. Our commander however allows and encourages motorcycle parking in the hashmarks and end caps so that's where the bikes are parked. I don't worry at all that it will get stolen, what I do worry about are that some of my neighbors do not pay close attention to what their kids are doing and one of them will decide to hop on one of the bikes and hurt themselves or that some idiot decides 50 feet is too far to walk from the guest parking spots to the houses and try to squeeze their big ol' SUV between the bikes and BAM, bikes go down like falling dominos.

Aloha,
Kehau

At home in it’s in the garage, but going to stores I tend to take up those nice front row spaces with the lines through them.

In the garage, always, much to my wife's dismay, especially with two of them in there

Did you guys know those big hashed out areas around the handicapped spots are not motorcycle parking but are actually room for people with wheelchair vans to operate their lifts?

That I did know. I don't normally park my bike in hashmarks when I'm in town, that's a bit scary for me. When on base and at home, I do. This is such a small base with such a large population which is why the Commander strongly encourages it. I've actually asked store and restaurant managers in town about their parking lots, yeah I know, I'm such a geek. Anyway, I didn't realize before I asked that at most major stores around here, the hashmarks are either blue or white. The blue marks are reserved for the needed excess space for handicap vehicles so parking in the blue hashmarks is, what store managers consider, illegal. Parking in the white hashmarks isn't minded at all. However, the hashmarks that are the endcaps serve as a visual aid for a cushion space between a parked vehicle and a moving vehicle so if your bike should get hit while parked there, you're pretty much SOL. I asked a State Trooper friend what the state laws were about bikes parking in hashmarks and he told me that as far as he knew, state laws don't allow it but, they're not going to ticket a bike unless the store manager calls it in.

Aloha,
Kehau

At home in the garage; at work outside and covered next to the entrance in plain view.

Mine is in the garage at home, and at work we have areas specific for motorcycle parking. The cool thing is that they are closer, and most have a way to see them from the inside. The building I work in, you can see mine from the engineers offices, and they all know me. Plus we have video on site. Other than that, I guess I take my chances. I don't have a cable lock, alram, or any other means of security.

I'll usually park there too if I have to go to the mall or walmart for some reason. But around here, there's always like 3 or 4 other bikes parked in the same area, so nobody cares.

At the moment, it's in the garage. But I'll be giving up that part of the garage (my GF is moving in with me), so I'm looking for an alternative in the neighborhood. When I'm at work, it's parked outside or in a parking lot for bikes and motorcycles. I'm installing an immobilizer, so I'm not worried about it being stolen by joyriders (if a professional wants it, there is nothing you can do to stop them).

The IG Motorrad (sort of like the Swiss AMA) has a petition going around to get more parking spaces for motorcycles in the city. At the moment, the law is that motorcycles can only park in specially-marked motorcycle parking spaces. A single motorcycle may NOT take a parking space for cars (two bikes can share a car parking space, but not a single bike). It is also forbidden to park a motorcycle in a bicycle parking area. The result is that it is almost impossible to find a "legal" parking space for motorcycles, and we end up getting parking tickets (anywhere from $30 to $90).
