| I'll be riding again in about a month so I started to look into MSC for my wife (I'll be taking it also. Wife's request). The only outfit in this area charges $235 for there classes. That seems a bit pricey. What do these classes cost in other areas.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | My 1-day refresher course (sponsored by my insurance company) costs me CHF 100 (about CDN $100). For others (who aren't customers of the insurance company), the course costs CHF 230. Any my 1-day first-aid course was also CHF 100.

| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | I paid $285.00 for a course just sponsored by the MSF. Not actually the MSF. MSF course run by the state in Georgia.... $250.00 with about a two month waiting period.

| The beginner course here in Lubbock is 180, the advanced is only 75. I am going to try to take the advanced some time soon. I am just waiting for better weather.

| M-J.Com Master Poster ![]() | That seems to be the going rate for your state. Here’s where I found information http://www.ca-msp.org/ridercourse_info.asp the cost is in the FAQ section. Here in Illinois, funds from vehicle registration & licenses pay for the course. So they offer the class for no charge just a $20.00 deposit to make sure you show up. |

| Texas is similar to Virginia in that if you take the beginner course your driving test is waived and they provide helmets and bikes, other gear is your own responsibility. The advanced course you have your bike (registered and insured) and you have to have your license. Depending upon your insurance company you can use either certificate for insurace discounts. Not all companies do that.

| Dastardly villain ![]() | holy crap guys! I don't know what the difference is for Michigan but at a community college it cost me $25. That is it. I know that part of your $8 for the endorsement on you liscences goes towards the Michigan MSF program so it is slightly subsidized, but it shouldn't cost over $100 IMHO. There was a harley/buell dealer who wanted $285 for a MSF class just because you would be riding ~500cc Buell blasts, but other than that every Community College was around $25.

| Too bad none of you live in Pennsylvania. PA. uses the motorcycle registration fees ($10/yr/bike) and permit fees ($5) to fund the MSF course. So, if you are a Pa. resident: MSF - Basic Rider Course - $0.00! Will supply the bike and helmet - no charge. Upon successful completion of the course they endorse your license with the "M". No need to take an additional license test. MSF - Experienced Rider Course - $0.00! Need to supply your own bike. MSF - Dirt Bike Course - $0.00! Will supply bike and helmet. |
