| Fourth gear and illegal ![]() | After taking today's portion of the MSF course in 29* (11* wind chill) weather, my hands are FROZEN! My Joe Rocket gloves did NOTHING to insulate them! I need some WARM gloves, because I can't stand cold hands. I hate them worse than cold feet. But they also need to be armored. Any suggestions on good ones? I searched but couldn't find much (surprisingly).

| You can find heavy insulated gloves, but for the additional heat retention you give up some sense of feel and a degree of ability in control of your levers. Roadmaster and other makers have gloves that give that extra heat retention You will also find them or the like at a skidoo, outdoor, ski shop. I have not seen armored but with extra protection in the palms. I have found then to generate a sweating of the palm. There are glove liners out there, finding them is the problem. The only ones I saw on E-bay were cotton and I was looking for silk. |

Heated grips and hand guards = happy hands. I rode 35 miles at 22 deg F recently. My hands were much warmer than some other parts.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | At the SwissMoto show yesterday, there was one stand featuring heated gear. Gloves, Jackets, Pants, Boots ... everything wired with heating elements to keep the rider comfy in all weather conditions. IMHO, if it is cold enough that I need heated gear, I'll just take the car. Bikes need grip to keep the bike on the road, and bike tires develop grip when they are warm. Riding over frozen ground is bad...

| I use the Widder heated gloves myself. They keep my hands plenty warm enough down into the mid 20's. And for what it's worth... There's a fair margin between cold enough to chill two fists stuck into the breeze and not developing enough heat in either the tires or the road surface to make it a hazard to riding. One doesn't really relate to the other.

| I'm with inspiron on this one. I have very warm gloves, I could consider heated grips for more comfort but heated clothes? Too cold = less traction, with only two wheels that's asking for trouble if you ask me. The lowest I ride is +5 Celsius.

| You can get heated gloves, but I never have. Maybe one day, but in the winter cold, I'm just not taking long rides unless its sunny, and besides, I already have some nice warm Olympia leather insulated gloves with fairly long gantlets.
