| good night/morning everyone. to start off with im pretty new to riding. i took the MSF course in May 04 and now that i got everything squared away i bought my first bike. nothing fancy but i got a GS500F the other week. after finally getting all my gear in that i ordered i now have my helmet(KBC Assassin), leather jacket(ICON Motorhead), ICON back protector, ICON MERC gloves, and SIDI Vertigo Tepur boots. i guess the next thing to do is wait for good riding weather and get out there and remember everything i learned in class, meet some local riders for further help, and get riding. thanks guys |

| That is a good bike. It has been awhile since your course, put sometime in on a empty parking lot. Go over your lessons, get used to the bike. Take your time and enjoy. |

| Good to have you, af. May I ask what swayed to toward a GS? So many new riders go overboard with their first I'm curious who set you on the right course.

| af to MJ.Great looking ride. It's evident you take safety seriously. The parking lot refresher is good advice as you are a new rider on an unfamiliar machine. Take your time building skills and confidence. BTW, where's home? Some of us are just getting out on our bikes this time of year. Others are still working a shovel. Enjoy the new toy, and keep safety at the fore.

| first off...thanks for the replies guys. what swayed me to the GS...well, i have heard from a lot of people how a 500 is a good start up, so its the 250. i thought the 250 was too small and that i would get tired of it too soon. so i found a GS forum and read up on there for a couple months and found that it, along with the EX500, is probably the best startup bike. after reading up on all that i made my choice. safety is definetly my number 1 concern...i plan on having a family later on in life as for my gear here are a few pics: |

| Nice gear you got there buddy! You definitely got a good head on your shoulders. Protect it with the best helmet you can afford. BTW, I'm also getting a pair of SIDI B2 boots. They're on back order at my dealer.
