Ditto. I ride with good friends who ride Harleys. Nice bikes, just not for me. You can find good folks and losers on any type of bike.

I was once at our neighborhood pool, bored, watching the kids swim. I hear two guys nearby talking about bikes, I'm listening in thinking about how cool it might be to slide over and have a chat. Then I realize they're not talking about riding, they're talking about literally just sitting in their driveway listening to The Sound(tm). They went on for about another 10-15 minutes and never once talked about actually riding anywhere, just chromy bits and more about The Sound(tm). Ugh.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I will never 'get it' and frankly that does not worry me a bit.

There are lots of things you don't want to "get".

What I "get" is accelerating through a sweeper and cruising down a country road amongst the world's top horse farms. Putting my GF on the back and riding through the Red River Gorge. I'm not really sure that a chrome plated kickstand spring would add much for me....

Trust me, I've tried to 'get it.' However, I can't seem to relate to discussions based on exhaust tone and chrome alone. Riding is a lot more fun... and much more gratifying.

Dood.....You being a Harley owner didn't "get" the fact that the "Live to Ride" crap festooned on Harleys makes them faster?

Funny you should mention that. Seems to me though that the "Live to Ride" crowd spends more time posing and talking about chrome and the potato sound than they do actually riding. That Live to Ride crap cannot possibly make a Harley go faster. MYTH BUSTED!!!

Ya know....I just realized you haven't presented any empirical evidence as to how chrome gee-gaws do NOT make a bike faster....

Well, I can't see how 200 lbs of crap that do nothing but sparkle make any bike go faster. Heck, I can make a bike go faster after a diet of beans and broccoli, but I'm not about to present any empirical evidence.

EZ.....speaking of chrome and all the privileges it brings. Remember that guy I told you about? The nearly sixty-year old dude that claimed he was an accomplished @ss-kicker because of the mere fact that he held title to a Geezer Glide.....

Do you mean 'laid' or 'laid up?'
