| what could I expect to get for my M50 with 8,300 miles on it? there's a nice 2006 VTX1300 sitting at the dealer with 954 miles on it that i am considering (asking $8k).......just want to have an idea of what kinda number to ask for....KBB says down around $3800 and that is WAYYYY to low for me! i doubt this will actually happen as i know they wont offer me anything near what i would LIKE to get for my bike... anyone want to buy my M ? haha |

| not interested in the M, but will tell you that you would not be disappointed in the vtx. my nephew has the 1800 and i love it. have been thinking of selling my intruder 1500 and buying one. i talked to a fellow one day not long ago that was riding an 1800, but he started with the 1300 and said it was just as good a bike, but he gave it to his wife and it now has 65k miles on it and no problems at all. later, bud

| Be sure to check new too..... I was at a dealer this weekend I think Honda is running a deal on leftover 2005s offering $850 off 1300s and $1000 off 1800s. He said the supply is pretty good and he thought he could get anything I wanted (may have been sales BS but it sounded good!)

| May 2007 Member of the month ![]() | What exactly do you feel you need to get for the M? There is a big difference between what you owe and what you feel like you can get for the bike. If I remember right though seems like you told us once that you paid off the bike with a credit card or something. With the remaining balance on that card if you sell the M will you be able to pay off the card with that???? If not then you are extending yourself even further in debt by going out and getting another bike. Maybe pay off the credit card/bike payment,,, pay down your debt to affordable levels,, then get yourself out of that negative cashflow you said you had. It is alot more enjoyable having money to go do what you want than to have a high bike payment and not having money to enjoy riding it. I opt for paying off the debt then if you decide you must have a bike without saving up for it then make sure that once the insurance and all the other bills are paid for,, the remaining money you have can go towards getting a new bike. Remember one thing though,,, and I am sure it is the same in Florida,, a higher cc bike has a higher insurance payment per month. It does in Georgia. Just make sure you don't run out of money before you run out of month.

| Hey 8,300 miles and you are just broke in. I remember someone saying something about making ends meet. Enjoy what you have, it is a great bike, get out there and meet some young ladies. Avoid the you know group and their castoff's. There is no sense having a bike and no gas to put in it. |

| I had a chance to ride The 1300 VTX, and the M 50, back to back, before I bought the "M". Price was about the same, as the Honda was used. I know the Honda is a bit faster, but it didn't feel like it, and it felt like it weighed twice as much, especially at slow speeds. I thought at the time that I would like the heaver feeling once I got out on the super slab, but it didn't work out that way, the "M" felt better at speed to. Try and snag yourself a ride on the Honda before you buy it. I know everyone is different, and a lot of people like the VTX's, but I think the "M" is a better bike.

| Be ready to take a hit trading in! Cycle Trader was pretty much on for my Vol. I could have gotten a better deal selling, but only if I waited until the spring. They gave me a few hundred over Cycle Trader, also gave me 800 off the Star, so I made out OK. Just shop around. I rode 7 or 8 differnet rides, and wore out the Yammy dealer before I commited! Just be patient! This is a good time of year to get a good deal, so taking less for your ride isn't as much of a blow.

| well heres the story...first off to settle Sean and Tim down (cause i am sure he is having the same thoughts about my financial situation)... i got about a $7k a year raise last week!!! (with 3k of that coming in a one time check in march). next more info: the VTX sitting at the dealer is one a friend traded in spur of the moment and got a C50 even trade (LONG story!). he only had it 2 weeks. talked to him last night and he told me it never ran right and i shouldnt think about getting it and fixing. so that idea is gone. however, another dealer i was talking to about the work they did on his bike (jet kit) was telling me he has a couple 1300's i should come look at. he also said trade in i would get about 3800 but if i put it on consignment he would list it at 5100 and take his cut and i would still come out better than trade for sure. i'll swing by and look, but i think it was just a whim to maybe get one cheap....probably stay with the M another year unless some awesome deal comes along. i have ridden a vtx1300 (silver one on right in my sig banner) and i like the added weight and feeling of stability. as for where ive been: i told you, i used to look forward to BS-ing in OT and having some fun. two or three people i counted on being sarcastic right along with me lost their sense of humor and started getting too serious, so i decided to hang out with Landry for a while....he has taught me life away from internet forums isnt such a bad thing. . It took me a LONG time to get out of that hole and I have seen the light. Even the LC was an impulse buy but I have been wanting one for over four years. Just never took the plunge and after Bike Week 2005 I decided it was time to go buy. Got back on Sunday night and by Tuesday night I had signed my name. BUT,,, I also had cash money in the bank to back that impulse buy. But it sounds like you got things covered and thats cool!!! Congrats on the Raise!!!!!!!!!!

| If you can hold off just a little while long with selling your bike you will get alot more selling it out right in the spring.

| Glad to have you back Doug. Congrats on the raise too. I hate to say it, but like others said, you will take a big hit when you trade in. You see the CBR in my avatar? My Sportster was traded in to get that bike. The trade in value according to KBB is $4200, but my dealer gave me $4400 for the trade in. If you don't want to take the big hit, I would recommend following Uechi Kid's suggestion. The demand will pick up as the weather warms up. Hope your finances pick up soon, along with a new bike. Good luck!
