Default Hijacked eBay account? Mint '05 Gixxer 1K $2900

I'm guessing this is a bogus offer through a hijacked eBay account.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...QQcmdZViewItem

I also saw an immaculate '04 Goldwing with a buy it now price of $4600 and a really cheap heavily customized 'busa. eBay is really starting to suck ***.

I thought $4600 for an immaculate '04 Goldwing sounded pretty darn good, and the listing says the bike is in Ohio. I emailed the seller abd rec'd the following response:

Hi,

You have to know that the bike I am selling is 100% working and great
looking, no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage.
I just moved to IRELAND because my wife is from here and she wanted to be
closer to her parents. The bike is here with me.

Shipping will be done by Lufthansa Cargo and the bike will arrive in 10
days. I will pay the shipping fees. It will be insured at the shipping
company for the transport. All documents, including owner's manual in
english, clear title and bill of sale will be provided along with the bike..
The price i'm asking is $4600.

The bike is an US model bike, made and bought in the US. It is still
registered in the US, so you won't have to pay any custom taxes and you
won't have any problems registering the bike in your name.

Terms: The transaction will be closed only through a safe and secure method
recommended and approved by eBay, so both you (as a buyer) and I (as a
seller) be protected.

I'm a serious seller and a fair trader and I prefer to deal only with a
serious buyer. If you consider yourself one please e-mail me back so we can
start our deal. >
I would really appreciate a quick answer.

Regards,

I responded that I was flying into Shannon on Thursday and I'd like to see the bike. I wonder how that will go with this scammer...

They're all the same ad. They almost always use $2900 since it generates the most response. Why would you even get involved with these people?

I'm bored, the weather sucks. Don't mind me, I'm a bad influence. It seems eBay read my e-mail and removed some of the dubious ads.

Some years back I bought a motorcycle onm eBay at a good price, sight unseen, from a dealer in Ohio. That deal worked out fine. I would never do it again because of all of the scammers out there. The only way I'll buy a motorcycle now is in person - and the only way I'll sell a bike is in person for cash.

The obvious tipoff is in the description, (with a different font than the rest of the description) it'll say, e-mail me @ blah blah @ hotmail . com. If it was the legitimate seller, why do they have a separate contact other than e-bay's contact seller button? They're always overseas, etc.

I watch the local e-bay ads for my area everyday looking for a bargain on a bike. I get a kick out of seeing an ad for a bike that just sold like the week before being cloned. Lately, I just alert e-bay with the item number. It's gone within' the hour.

This guy hijacked the account, the seller contact button e-mailed the scammer. His e-mail to me came through hotmail but originated from a German IP address.

Interesting.

Too bad they can't put that know-how to legitimate uses, they'd probably cure cancer or at the very least lead a long and prosperous life.

He hasn't replied after I asked to see the bike in person. How puzzling...
