| Teknic Defenders, zipper on the inside leg with a velcro closure, low heel and comfortable. http://thekneeslider.com/motorcycle-...cycle-boot.php I use to wear steel toe engineer boots when I rode but noticed that my foot pegs were being worn thin because of them, since I got the Teknics my feet do not hurt during or after riding, I often find myself walking around the house an hour or so after I have stopped riding and my footpegs are no longer needing to be replaced every year. They are expensive from a stealership, I got mine off of eBay for $115.00, new. |

| If you are looking to go on the cheap, you may give Magnum's a try. They aren't moto specific, I think they market them toward law enforcement types and such, but for around 50-60 bucks you get a pretty good pair of boots.

| Magnums have a less than stellar reputation. I wouldn't spend my own hard earned $$ on them. I have a pair of Sidi B Ones... ...they're very comfortable and provide a roadracer level of protection, however they're probably a little over the top for a cruiser fan. However Sidi does make styles more suited to other riding styles. Just one example... ![]() Based upon my experience with the Sidi boots I do have, I would recommend the brand. Craftsmanship and overall quality are top drawer. I have a pair of mid-cut Docs (4 or 5 eyelets) and while I have worn them on the bike, I would recommend going to at least a 6 or better yet, an 8 eyelet high Doc for dedicated motorcycle wear. Something along these lines (height-wise at least)... ![]() ...to ensure the ankle is covered and protected. I love Docs, however I've been looking for a pair of casual/dress shoes and since they moved their manufacturing to China or India, I've found the selection has decreased and I don't think the quality is quite what it used to be.

| I'll say again that I don't believe most dress shoes or work-boot wannabes make suitable riding gear. The usually don't offer much in the way of ankle protection and they're likely to slip off in a slide or tumble. Get some real motorcycling boots from a real motorcycle boot manufacturer. I wear Sidi Champions.

| I like my Carolina Grizzly lace up steel toe work boots. They fit very well and provide excellent ankle protection. Since I ride a bike with a heel-toe shifter and I always upshift with my heel, I don't need a pointy toe to get under a shifter. These boots aren't going to slip off my big foot at all, and the soles have excellent traction on all types of surfaces - wet, dry, oily, etc. I'm not a big fan of low top boots, I don't want my ankle to twist in a bad situation, and I want the boots to stay on. All that said, find boots that fit well, are comfortable and offer good protection and a non-slip sole. Without a heel-toe shifter the toe shape and top are important if you ever upshift. Most motorcycle specific boots are good choices - some other types of boots can work well. Find some boots that work for your ride and your feet. Doc Martins are solid boots.

A riding buddy was taken out by a moron on a scooter wearing a business suit and dress shoes. The scooter rider hit the pavement fairly gently at about 20 km/h - it looked like his ankle joint nearly protruded through the skin and it was only mild roadrash. If you look at any roadracing style boot, there's additional protection over the ankle for that reason.

| I've been using Bates Tactical Sport Boots, avaialble at Sears. Watch for the sales, you can pick them up for $50. They're lightweight, zippered on the inside with a lace up front, and I've been able to ride, fish and hunt with these things. Here's a site... http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...=ALT&ihtoken=1 |

| Granted MC specific boots would be nice to own, but when you have a wider than average foot they arent' easy to find. Most mfg's lines do not include varying widths and those that do only offer Reg. or Wide, and the wide is not often very much different from the regs.

| http://harley-davidson.ridegear.com/...html?E+scstore these are almost exactly what i picked up the day before yesterday. but now i have a MAJOR problem! being of the short-legged variety of humans, these boots don't let me point my toes so i can get under the gear shift to change gears! so now i need to do something about THAT! but the boots are decent. steel toes. i just have to have the top stretched because they are bruising my lower calves.

| Should be able to loosen the bolt holding the shifter portion on, slide it off and tilt up towrds you 1 or 2 notches, slide back on tighten the bolt. It is trial and error, do not tighten bolt till you are comfortable with the shift. If you go too far you will not make a positive shift. |
