since my personal sig is within the size limits but a bit on the colourful side, i tend to not show it on some follow-up posts within a thread (basically, if i post 2-3 times in a thread with not too many other people's posts in between mine, i disable the sig for the follow-up posts if i can remember to do that).

i think that if we could get members to be courteous and occasionally not include a sig in a post (especially if they post often in a particular thread), it would be most appreciated by many users. so, maybe that plug-in that only shows a sig once per page would be worthwhile?

File size or visual size? What do you have in mind?

It is rather big indeed, glad to see member complaint about stuff like that. It means our guidelines are appreciated and noticed.

ya, it's kinda flashy, which is why i try to disable it on follow-up posts (seems few others do that) - but it's not obscenely big in terms of pixel count or kB size.

jkersh - thanks for the effort. it looks like the text legibility suffers like it did in my previous attempts, which is why i am making it external / separate. actually, i'm gonna go and reduce that text size to make the visual impact less glaring.

if my sig is reall really REALLY painful for everyone on the planet even with occasional non-inclusion, i can rework it to remove the bike image and put the remaining images into one line.

i didn't realize i was being THAT offensive with the sig, so if a mod PM's me to yank the bike portion out, i can (grudgingly) comply

I would say stick with either the text or the images. If you have to keep the text don't use so many images. If my browser is windowed then it is really burning up my scroll wheel.

I dont have an issue with it either way. Though, preferably, the image could be redunced to 90 pels tall and the wording could be set up to be wide. What do I know, I'm just a contractor.

Bump. With all the flashy new gut-cut meters, some of your sigs are positively gargantuan. As a reference, they shouldn't be any higher than the distance from the top of your username to the bottom of a maximum size avatar. If it's much taller than that, you either need to remove some blank lines or orient your content horizontally. If that doesn't work, you might need to remove something.

Thanks!

Okay I am absolutly clueless on some of this computer stuff. How do you add more than one pic to my sig. I want to add the IRTFM to my sig and when I tried it said that I could only have one pic. Thanks for the help

Not sure, but I've never seen the tag you have in your sig before. [SIGPIC]? Just use [img].

There is a "plug-in" available that does that. Only shows members sigs the first time they post in any given thread. Every post they make after that, in that same thread, no sig shows at all. We used it for awhile at another VB message board I visit.
