| Hi y'all: Joined the forum since Sept but have been lurking because I don't have anything things to add to the conversations. Since it's getting close to Xmas, I thought it's time to introduce myself and send a greeting to all. I've been riding a 2000 Ducati monster 600 since 2003 (clocked in about 25,000 miles) before adding an 05 GSX-R600 to my stable in June. So far, I've accumulated 5,555 miles on the Gixxer's odometer. I do mostly canyon runs and only go on the superslabs only when I have to (use the monster for that). So far, I've scrapped my toes on the Gixxer quite a few times but have yet to get the knee pucks to kiss the pavement. Anyhoo, just want to say hi to y'all. Merry Christmas. |

As for the canyons, well, let's see: 1. Santiago Canyon (closest one): Not much of a twisty except for a small detour starting at the Cook's Corner. I consider this to be largely a straight line, unless you go twice the speed limit or on a lowered cruiser 2. Carbon Canyon Road: More interesting than Santiago Canyon Road, but just slightly, unless you're at the northern half of the road (north of Western Hills country club, in the Chino Hill section of the road) 3. Ortega Highway: Fairly decent except for the gravels at the wrong places and the frequent aerial surveillance 4. San Grabriel canyon road: Excellent condition (one of my personal favorites) except during the weekend when there are too many slow cages going to camping 5. Mount Palomar and Angeles Crest (starting from Glendale): Both are good twisties and have decent road condition. The only problem is that I'd have to go 60 miles on superslabs before the fun begins (at least on Angeles Crest, that's 80 miles of fun). Oh, btw, I do most of the maintenance and works on my bikes.
