| Some of you may recall that I am a newbie who bought a 97 1400 Intruder w/14K miles on it, took the BRC and when I had passed, bike wouldn't start and I couldn't ride. Arrrrgghh!! Well, 5 weeks later, I finally got my bike back from the dealer repair shop. Is this a normal time to take for repairs? I mean it took them 4 1/2 weeks to even look at the thing. Turned out it was a worn out clutch switch. It cost $208 to fix and that included $75 for them to come and pick it up. Not too bad I thought. Anyhoo, I go and pick up my baby and decide to ride it home. I forgot one thing though - I'm still a newbie. I quickly proceded to drop the bike - in front of the entire dealership staff, no less. I caught it though, before it hit the ground (I got a round of applause for that) and the only thing that was hurt was my pride. I got back on like a trooper and rode it all the way home by myself. I rode it the next day too - in about 45 degree weather. I can't wait for it to warm up again so that I can ride, ride, ride. Whew! Bracchus |

| glad you got your ride back. As far as service time it depends on the time of year. If they have a lot of bikes to look at it can take a while. Nice catch on the bike. woulda sucked to have hurt pride and a dented tank. enjoy and welcome back bro.

| Five weeks is very excessive. Especially this time of year. I would never expect more than about a week. If they couldn’t get to it they shouldn’t have taken it in. But it’s back and you’re riding and that’s all that matters now. Be safe newbie.

| Dealerships are odd. I got a screw in my rear tire a few weeks ago. I rolled into the dealership as soon as they opened and was told most likely the next day before they could repair it??? As soon as I told them I wanted to just go ahead and replace both tires(because the OE tires are horrible). They changed their tune and rolled the bike right in. Rolled out on a new set of Metzlers about an hour later.. |

| Dragbar There are a lot of nice shops in Memphis. There's Performance Plus Suzuki which has just about everything you need for 'Zooks. There's also a HD shop that, believe it or not, don't mind you riding up in your "rice burner" - In fact, many HD riders are impressed with my bike - especially after my minor mods. There's even a custom shop that has $70K bikes for sale and display and can customize your bike any way you want - they're called Motorcycle Madness. Every dealer is real friendly too. Give me a shout if you're headin' down this way when the weather breaks and we can check some out. Bracchus |
