Cool Cold weather ride

Just wanted to start a thread to find out how cold of a temp you guys are ridding at. The only rules are, the ride length has to be at least as many miles as the temp. For example, if it is 20 degrees out, you have to ride at least 20 miles for it to be a ride, and it has to be a road ride. No snowmobiles, dirt bikes, or ATV's
Ha, Ha, Ha,. You guys from Florida, and Texas don't stand a chance in this one, some of you might beat me though. My coldest ride was only 38 degrees, and that was a few years back.

A few weekends ago a friend of mine and myself took off on our bikes him on his RC51 and me on mine in some really nice weather until the sun went down. We rode a total of 32 miles in 30 degree weather not couting the wind chill with riding. Fingers fell of when we got home

Rode for 12 hours last year- it was 31 when I left, and 19 when I got home. But I cheat- I use electric heated clothing, so I am impervious to cold

35 degrees for 40 miles at about 70mph. No heated clothing. Fingers were probably on the verge of frost bite! Second time I rode at this temperature ran about 50mph. Felt colder the second time. The difference in speed didn't make up for the length of time exposed. Got to get heated clothing like DrBob has.....

I could wear my snowmobile gear, and keep old man frost at bay, but I get to worried about all those slippery spots on that cold 'HARD' blacktop. Cold tires just don't grip as well, than you throw in the occasional snow patch, or that unseen dreaded black ice, and it just doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. 40 degrees is usually my cut off.

Default Does this count?

Just started riding in September. Coldest ride would be 70 miles at about 65 degrees. There should be a handicap for us in south Florida
For what it's worth it did dip into the 40's last night..LOL

I have so much cold weather gear that I never get too cold.

Does 100 mile in 100 degree weather count at all? How about what is the hottest you have ridden in- I believe we may win that one, unless someone in the desert beats us out

Just checked weather.com, 9°F forecasted for Wichita, KS as lows on Tues & Wed. No way I'm riding a single inch in single digit temps! My hats off to you if you can.

It was 24 or so this morning. But it's only 5 miles to work. So, I guess that I won't qualify until it gets a little colder. Or I could ride around the airport the opposite direction like I was doing this summer.

I may need a handlebar mounted thermometer. Anyone ever installed one?

When I got my first bike in 1974, I rode year round (in CT). The coldest I remember is 15 degrees. In dress blues, a pea coat and Navy-issue gloves. I couldn't feel my fingers until lunch time.

I took a spin yesterday afternoon when it was around 25 degrees. Not bad with the right gear. What usually makes me put the bike away for the season isn't the temperature, it's after the roads have been sanded and salted a couple of times.

About 120 kms or so at around 4-5 degrees C. No fairing and I was wearing only a thinly insulated leather riding jacket, (over a T-shirt) jeans, combat boots, thinly insulated gloves and a Bieffe Airtech lid. Like most really stupid things guys do, a female was the cause. Luckily we warmed each other up at the destination...

Last winter I rode in snow a few times and so far this year I've been riding at 2-3 degrees C. The Hayabusa offers great wind protection and I bundle up with well insulated gear.

Hot!

Regular daily commutes in high 30's and low 40's (C) with high humidity. Not possible without full mesh gear (I'm totally ATGATT) and even then I've been on the verge of heat stroke a few times.

24 yesterday on the morning commute, 35 miles. Not too bad this morning, around 30.

Hey bulkhead, you better start going the long way.

drgibson: I grew up in the Ft. Worth area. That's cold for Dallas. Did most people stay at home? I left in 1984, right after the December Ice Storm. Moved to Florida.
