Default Rode in the rain today

It was a nice day this morning, but it turned NASTY this afternoon. Heavy winds, heavy rain, hail. I rode home in the rain and the wind, and actually had no problems until I got to our gate. See we live out in the country, on a gravel and dirt road, well it turned to mud, lol. The only bad spot is right at our gate. I was rolling through and the back end just slid around, I tried to correct it, and it slid the other way. I ended up sliding off the road and nearly tipping it over. But I caught it, and other than a little mud on the bike and my boots, everything was okay! lol, scared the CRAP outta me, but I'm good. Riding in the rain isn't NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be.

Ride often in the rain, so you will be able to do so safely when you need to. Also, once the rain stops go find a dirt road and play in the mud, so you get used to the way the bike slides around, and you can explore the limits of traction. Once you bomb around in the mud for a little while it will be quite fun, and you will not be intimidated by it.

I ride in the rain alot. Once you've adapted to the difference in traction and braking it's all good.

Yea even riding through town wasn't bad. I have a 17 mile drive home, a third in town, a third on the highway, and the rest on back roads, so I got a taste of everything. Even the sharp curves weren't any big deal. Just that darn mud patch, lol. Good thing the GZ is so lightweight, I might not have been able to hold it up, lol.

I have ridden in the rain fairly often. I don't really mind it too much.

Except on cobblestones. They can be as slick as ice when wet.

When in town, beware of crosswalk paint, especially if freshly painted, and manhole covers. The other problem I've encountered is where sand or gravel has washed onto the pavement. Mostly, it just requires awareness and common sense.
Stay safe.

It's also the best way to test your gear. Joe Rocket Rush gloves are waterproof, Diadora Boots are not!

I don't mind riding in the rain but what I don't like is cleaning my bike afterwards. I like to keep it looking good so I will usually drive my cage in wet weather. If I didn't have any chrome it would be a different story.

... anyway, the rainey season is very short in Cailfornia.

lol, I went to the car wash today to hose the mud off my bike. I got it all nice and clean again (or so I thought) but I apparently didn't get all the mud off the underneath of the fenders. It all dropped right back down on the wheels/tires/exhaust/swing arm, lol. Oh well, now I know to just hand wash it from now on.
