Default Cold Weather

The weather here in New England has been getting colder, do I wait it out for maybe some more warm days or put it away for the winter. Any suggestions for putting it away in the shed.

I'd wait, even in our neck of the woods you might get the odd day you can get out for a little scoot. Last year the end came suddenly, we had some freezing rain and the city works crews plastered the roads with salt, it did moderate again but the roads were still white with salt so that finished my riding season.

I agree, keep the bike on standby. You can get a few days in November that will be warm enough to ride.

Yes, today was my last day of commuting with the bike but I'm keeping it until Decembre for those warmer weekend days.

I'm done, 15 F up here tonight- I have always put my bike away pretty good- the only thing I have been unable to avoid when storing it cold- cracked tires. No preservative or anything I have tried has worked to prevent this when dry storing.

Here in Iowa it's some time in December to mid Feb or when the snow is done that the bike is parked, there are warm days in Feb and March that the bike come out again to ride on a regular basis.

If you ride in the winter, be sure to take extra care to get the tires up to temperature.

If you want to park the bike for the winter, look at this thread.

I ride as long as there's no snow or ice on the roads; I wear my one piece ski suit along with my Tour Master Gauntlets as well as a Respro Foggy face mask under my helmet. Last winter I rode up to Lucas, Ohio and the temp was a "cool" 31 degrees. Even then I was nice and toasty save for my fingertips and toes which did get a little cold.....
