Several months ago. a friend of mine was hit by a car while riding his brand new Harley Sportster. He was ttravelling down a soemwhat lit street, when a 19 year old girl came into his lane and hit him right in the left leg. He was over as far as he could go, but the curb was to high for him to get the bike over. He was left for dead by this inconsiderate piece of human debris.

He was not wearing a helmet, but thankfully, he only suffered minor scratches to his body, except for the lower left leg. The doctors ended up taking the leg just above the knee.

This guy is a special person, and works (para professional) with special education students, as well as coaching football, wrestling and soccer. I won't go into much detail, (he would not want that) but he is just a heck of a guy.

Initially, he was very much against getting back on the bike, which is understandable. Well, now that he adjusting to his new life, he has mentioned lately that he may want to ride again. He is concerned that he will not be able to negotiate the shifter with his prosthesis, and looking at it, he may be right.

Have any of you guys seen any bikes that were perhaps modified with a hand shifter, or maybe a shifter on the other side of the bike?

Thanks for any advice you might be able to offer.
