Default Riding music: iPods

I've looked around and I don't think I've seen any information anywhere on this. Not in the books I'm reading, and not online.

I've got an old iPod that I listen to in the car. In the car, it's simple - plug it into its adapter and go, it plays through the car speakers.

I also listen to it frequently when I'm out on my bicycle. It has a little remote built into the headphone wire so I don't have to pull the thing out to control it.

On the motorcycle... well, I haven't ever ridden with an iPod. I'm still really new (as in "I pick up my first bike later tonight" new) so I wouldn't consider wearing it until I've had some experience. Even still, though, I'm having doubts about the wisdom of riding with an iPod.

"Pay attention to what you're doing" seems to be the overriding rule that everyone is advising. "Get into riding when you ride, most accidents occur within the first half hour of the ride when you're still not quite into the ride yet."

Does anyone have any advice on this? Hell, does anyone here ride with their iPod?
