Default Another Rider down....:(:(:(:(:(

Was riding with my sisters bf and 2 other friends, was an awsome day, we had a case of beer waiting for us when we got back and were gonna have a big bonfire. Wasnt 15minutes into the ride and it happened. -

Goulais River, Ont. - Members of the Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment are continuing to investigate the fatal collision involving a moto cross bike from yesterday afternoon.

A preliminary investigation is indicating that the deceased, and three friends, were riding their moto cross bikes on the private ski trails at Stokely Creek Lodge in Goulais River.

All four were coming down a cross-country ski trail when the lead bike struck a cable across the closed trail. The cable wasnt clearly marked and had only 2 peices of flagging take which the wind blew to each ends of the cable.

The victim died at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Michael Perry of Sault Ste Marie.

This investigation is still ongoing.

I went and called 911 and rushed back only to see him lifeless, tho i never seen him hit the cable, i was a few seconds behind on the trail...but had he not taken it off the trees, it would have claimed 2 of us. I was behind with another friend just cruising cause were had the 4 strokers, and the other 2 on the 2 strokers where racing back and forth. My friend isnt doin good that one that was racing him, he kinda feels at fault but, had they been going slower there might have been a chance he could have avoided by laying the bike down or jumpin. If there had been a normal gate, he would be here having a beer with me right now , It made front page of the newspaper too... It took a good week before i could get back to work and doing my own thing again, But i have trouble lookin my sister in the eyes, they were together for 2 years and now hes gone, the only bf she had that i actually like and had fun with.......
We are tryin to see what we can do about this cable that was across the road and wasnt clearly marked, there is a long story as to how we ended up on that trail, but to make it short, we didnt know that we were on the ski trails cause of no signs and all the new roads recently made by Comstock doing the big hydro lines in the bush(prime riding for 80miles). There should have been a gate, i think all cables should be banned and if you dont want people on the property, then have a gate...something you can actually see. I know its changed my riding habits, i just hope no more people die that young needlessly. This is the second person in the last few years that has died on these trails cause them *******s putting wires up all over the place

A lesson learned and now i have to live the rest of my life with that image of him on the trail in my head....a good friend that everyone loved RIP MIKE..

I'm so sorry for you. That is terrible. I hope you and your sister get through it ok. I knew a girl who lost a brother the same way on an ATV. God that sucks. Give your sis a hug.

Thats horrible! Sorry for your loss!

I actually saw a similar situation when I was a kid, although not nearly as devastating. A neighbor kid was riding around on a dirt bike back in the construction area across the street. He was coming out, hit the cable used as a "gate" and severely cut his face up on the rocks and gravel. He now is blind in one eye... I agree that the cable thing should be changed...

Really sorry, DV. It's not often you hear of a 'crosser taking the big ride.

Thats horrible. I know how hard it is to find friends you actually like to be arround. And to see something like this happen to someone so young...how can you put that sadness into words? Life is so delicate and fragile and you never know when your time is up. That is why I believe in telling people that I care about what they mean to me.
