We had to put our cat to sleep yesterday. MrFurley was accidentally poisoned when he walked through some paint as we were painting the floors in our basement. It was a non latex indoor primer made by Kiltz. Aparently one of the ingrediants was Ethyene Glycol, the ingrediant in antifreeze that kills so many pets. He got in the paint about 2 weeks ago and nobody thought anything about it, and yesterday he looked droopy and was moping arround the house. So we took him to the vet, and his kidneys had already shut down. He must have licked his feet after he walked through the paint. We all saw the foot prints and thought nothing of it. I have had cats before but he was my favorite, he was my bud. He was kind of like a dog, casue he loved to play. Play play play play. he would jump arround, and we would chase each other arround the house, loved the laser pointer. He had a little stuffed mouse with cat nip in it and it would throw it up in the air and catch it, and do flips. He loved the slick kitchen floor. He liked it when you put him on his side and spin him arround and slide him across the floor like a hockey puck. He would even grab hold of your leg so you could drag him arround. He also had really bad balance and was constantaly falling off of things. He would loose his balance sitting on your lap and roll off. Never bit or scratched or tore anything up. Never made any messes. And if he ever woke me up in the middle of the night, it was becasue he wanted to play. He was only a year and a half old, but its sad to loose a pet this way. Just wanted to let you guys know that walking through paint can be potentially lethal for your pets. I had no idea. |
