Default Today is the day

Well, folks, today is the day that we pay off the Accord a year early. I've been sitting on the cash, trying to decide and last night I said, Do it." She'll call today and pay it off. We owe a little less than 10 grand on it. I've been sitting on this (Gixxer) money for awhile, and we've decided that we're better off just paying the car off.

I still have some cash to cover the wife's school, which costs about $1500 every 8 weeks (accelerated night program - Christian Brothers University in Memphis . . . my alma mater), and the car note, at $750 a month will cover that anyway.

The wife says she wants to go back into the workforce in January. I'm not real happy about that, but it DOES mean that I can start car/bike shopping then. I don't really need a new bike, but WTH . . . I'll get one anyway. The Bandit was just intended as a learner. Not sure I'm ready for an upgrade yet. I'm thinking of either a 1200 Bandit, an FZ-1, or one of those groovy-looking Kaw' Z750S's. I've still got time to figure out the right bike for me. As per the wife, I can buy "whatever bike I want." Awesome, huh?

<newbies: note the lack of mention of a 'Busa, or 1KGSXR, even though I have more experience than you, and can get whatever I want. That should speak volumes.>

On the car front, I'm thinking Civic Hatchback. Assuming that I don't have to put much $ into the truck, I should be getting a new car sometime around December to March of next year. The 2nd gear synchro's already going out (91,000 miles . . . POS Dodge), so I may be looking at $1,500-2,000 for a tranny swap. If that's the case, I'll hold off on the car for another six months. Not because I won't be able to afford a car, but because I just don't like to throw big money at something that just sits (like the truck pretty much will when I get the Honda).
