|  My personal iron butt ride
I know, it's nothing like one of your rides (Dale), but yesterday I set a new distance record for a one-day ride: Over 300 km (just under 200 miles) in about 6 hours. I headed over toward eastern Switzerland, and picked up my new touring bags (I bought them off of a guy on another forum). The ride to his place (east of Winterthur, Switzerland) was about 125 km, all on country roads (I explicity tried to avoid the Autobahn). On the way back home, I crossed over into Germany and rode on the north side of the Rhine river. I then rode up to my girlfriend's place, taking my day total over 300 km. I actually burned a whole tank of gas in one day! My 1400 ran like a charm! The touring bags I picked up are a "B-Bags" Speedpack ( http://www.bags-connection.com/english/ ). They retail for about $250, and I bought them off a guy who had NEVER used them for about $125! |
