Default So exciting!!!!!!

So, I wasn't around here all weekend because I was in the hospital with my best friend of 22 years (we met when we were in 1st grade!!) while she had her baby.

She asked me to be in the room with her and her husband, which I was so happy to do. It was probably the most amazing experience I've ever had! This was her first baby, and because we are so close, I feel as if she is my sister.

She had a healthy baby boy, named Isaac. He was 6 lbs, 15.6 oz. He was 20.75 inches long. He was perfect! I'll post a pic when I get a chance. Sorry, people...this is as close as I can come to having a baby of my own (without actually having one), so I'm going to be bragging and posting pics of him as if he was mine!!

It's a very strangething, childbirth. Teh closest we'll ever get to seeing a real magic show.

The oddest thing about it is the tramsformation the mother makes. She's really been in transition for the last 9 months, I suppose, but it is simply amazing how they go from "your wife," to "expectant mother" to "baby delivery machine" in such a short amount of time. My hat is off to anyone that has ever squeezed one out. I know nature helps out quite a bit, but delivery is quite a mission.

Congratulations!

<c'mon . . . you know you want a baby!>

Well, all I did was everything and anything I could think of to try and make her more comfortable...I just was giving a lot of lower back rubs, leg rubs, feet rubs, running to get water and ice and towels and trying to keep her cool during her contractions by fanning her with whatever I could find.

But, wow, it was crazy how exhausted I was when I finally got home last night. I hardly slept on Saturday night, partly because I was checking on her and making sure there was always music playing, etc, and partly just because trying to sleep in a hospital room (as a guest) is not the easiest thing to do!

It was really the most amazing thing I've ever done. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole hospital/birth experience, and I'm looking forward eagerly to the next one.

Glad you could be involved. It's a life-changing event for most people.

Well congrats, SG! Kids are the coolest thing, and to see them brought into the world is truely a miracle. Even though he isn't REALLY yours, you should feel honored & blessed with his birth! Way to go, Girl!

Now, let's Party!

Hey Suzukigirl, now it's time to start spoiling little Isaac.

My wife and I have three grown up daughters. They were all at the house last night and we spent the night yammering about all the stuff we used to do together. Kids are great! Love 'em, spend quality time with them and they can be a blast. By the way, if you marry your best friend, the empty nest can even be a bigger blast!

Enjoy every minute you can with him ... before you know it, he'll be grown up and asking if he can borrow the keys to your SV...

Really small and cute,, WAY TO GO.......... Your friend is lucky to have a friend like you to help out. I dont know how some peopel do it all on here own. Really hard to do with two people. My son who is now 9 did not sleep through the whole night until he was 18 months old. He would only sleep for about two hours at a time unless you took him for a drive over bumpy roads. I looked like I had two black eyes all the time from being so tired.

So... what you're really saying is:

"Thank goodness someone else did this before I did! Now I feel justified in waiting 'til I'm old and wise before I even start thinking about popping out one of those little things."

I must say when Killian first came out and they put him over on the baby warmer and start to clean him off, he really looks like an alien lizard baby that was shedding till he started to pink up from the oxygen.

Yeah, right! Nothing gets the old feminine biological clock ticking like hanging out with a pregnant friend or a friend and her baby. Sierra Golf One's boyfriend better be careful...

What a beautiful baby! [Collective "Awwwww" fills the forum]

Them thangs'lll make ya' fertile girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed away from that kind of stuff my whole life . . . until last year. The chick in the next cube gets pregnant and "whamm-mo!" a month later the wife falls next like a freaking domino.

I hope you washed your hands. It may be too late for you already!
