Well, my friend rode all the way from central AL to Myrtle beach to join a crowd (ended up being about 14 hours)

You oughta stop by and see me in Alabama. Maybe we could work out some differences and see how much of a jerkface I really am.

Have you ridden this far before? I've ridden 600+ miles in a day on my 2002 Bandit 600 (arguably far more comfortable than a GSXR) adn I gotta' tell you . . . they don't call it monkey-butt for nothing.

Ever seen a monkey's be-hiney? Them things's red as cherries and look like they'd burn like a taco fart. That's what my bum felt like after about 5 hours. I couldn't wait to get home.

I'd suggest one alteration in that route (which would also suffice to allow you to see how much of a jerkface LayinLo really is )

At Jackson, MS, stay on 20 East through Meridian and towards Tuscaloosa/Birmingham, AL. Right when you cross over into Alabama, at Cuba, AL, take Hwy 80 East. That'll run you straight through Selma and on into Montgomery. From there you'll have several options of how to get back on course heading south instead of east, but they're far more enjoyable roads for driving than the interstates.

I guess I'm in the crazy category too then. April 9th I'm doing a Saddle Sore 1000. LA to Grand Canyon and loop back to Vegas for the night. Then up early Sunday for another 500 miles to Death Valley and on into LA. Most miles on the less known back roads. Should be a fun weekend. Sure glad I'm off that Monday! I think my Gixxer is pretty comfortable. Monkey butt? Not me.

Well, you guys over seas are fortuned to have loooong straight roads, so it ain't impossible. It's quite a long ride for sure, but I reckon I could've done it myself on the right roads. Here in Norway, we're not so pleased about our roads, so we've got some difficulties pulling something like that off all of a sudden
If you're not a wuss, I dare you to go, go, go for it

Hey Gixxerman, what's the problem? Just take the boat across to Travenmunde, then aim for Rome or Madrid That should be about 1800 km (1100 miles) ...

I wasn't suggesting fighting.........I know some great twisties just a little north of here. It would be worth it. The trip up through Talledega National Forest and on to Cheeha Mountain (Highest elevation in AL) is spectacular.

These roads are AWESOME and every time I get to ride 'em, my skills get a little sharper.
