Default Camera for videotaping rides

Is there a general consensus on what camcorders (or helmet cams) are best for recording motorcycle trips? I've checked out a lot of vids online and the footage ranges from broadcast quality to "Whisky Tango Foxtrot". Sound is one of the biggest issues, with wind noise rendering some vids unbearable without muting. Most folks don't list what equipment they use to film their rides, so I really don't know what camcorders are rendering the best vids. Of course the websites for the helmet cam and camcorder manufacturers all make their product sound like the ne plus ultra of videography.

Looking for input from folks who have experience, and if you can point me towards some clips taken using the equipment you recommend, I'd be extra obliged!

Thanky, folks...
