One of the reasons I do not spray the back yard for weeds, I do not want to kill the clovers. The bee population is hurting, and they account for 1/3 of our food supply through pollination. Bee population is down so much that farmers rent hives from bee keepers to pollinate their crops.

If you want a good hobby and help out in your neighborhood check with your local beekeeping clubs about getting a hive. I am still trying to talk my wife into it, she is one of those who panics when she sees a bee, but I do try to attract them as much as I can.

Actually..farmers have been renting Bees from Bee Keeper's for years since not every farmer has the time or inclination to keep bees, but still enjoy the work they do.

That is correct, which goes back to my point, the farmers depend on kept bees due to the low population of wild bees.

I heard on the news awhile back that even the "kept" bees were having some population troubles.

Yes and no. Kept bees and wild bees have gotten hit hard by mites, but beekeepers are able to treat their hives. A couple of years ago beekeepers got hit by sudden colony collapse, which the cause is not known. Thankfully they are able to order more bees, but regretfully the forest cannot

yeah, that's got to be it; some kind of infestation that they couldn't figure out.

while others are concerned about this and that, if we don't have enough bees, forget it; starvation is imminent.

got to post some pictures of my mosquito zapper; it ain't all that and a bag of chips, but it is thinning the heard fairly well.
