Default Woohooo! Got my first motorcycling ticket.

Well it was bound to happen, but it still Sucks (note the capital ess).

I was running down I90 at right around 78 MPH (75 zone). I came up on a mini van doing about 60 and moved to pass him. Of course he took it as his cue to speed up, so rather than hold my speed and take three minutes to get by him tooling along in his blind spot getting buffeted in his slipstream, and catching crap off his tires the whole time, I sped up to minimize my exposure. His rolling box caught a blast of wind broadside while I was alongside and he began drifting into my lane pretty dramatically (we're having a pretty good blow here today- 40 plus MPH gusts). It didn't look like he was going to correct befire he ran me into the guardrail or off the overpass we were just about on top of. So I pin the throttle and naturally, along comes the HP in the oncoming lane. Busted.

Bless him for being a reasonable Trooper and understanding my predicament...he wrote me up for the lower of the two speeds he clocked me at (the front gun as opposed to the rear one which got me after I went WFO for about two seconds). It also helped that he was able to catch me pretty quickly since I had slowed back to the posted after getting around the jackass cager, so he knew I wasn't just doing my imitation of a S.Q.U.I.D. Of course he admonished me to just back off the next time someone tries to race me when I move to pass, and I will do my best to follow that advice, but sometimes I'm too intent on getting by to take my eyes off the road and check my speedo. I'm also hesitant to drop throttle when there's someone who has moved out behind me in the passing lane...that's a good way to get rear-ended.

Ah well...it's painful to the pocketbook, but beats potentially being sideswiped by an imbecile driving beyond his meager abilities.
